by Jordan Epp | Thu, May 25th 8:09pm EDT

The Detroit Lions sent a conditional seventh-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for K Riley Patterson, releasing WR Keytaon Thompson in the process. (detroitlions.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Patterson was on the verge of being released when the Jaguars signed veteran K Brandon McManus on Thursday morning, but the Lions moved to keep him off the waiver wire. Patterson, who went undrafted in 2021, played his first season for the Lions, setting a franchise record for consecutively made field goals to start a career. His career mark of 87.8% on field goals will allow him to compete for a 2023 roster spot with veteran Michael Badgley and XFL signee Parker Romo. The Lions converted just 80% of their field goals last season, the seventh-worst mark in the NFL.
