Linebacker E.J. Speed is returning to the Houston Texans on a two-year deal. The contract is worth $13 million with $7.5 million guaranteed. (Aaron Wilson on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Speed appeared in 16 games with nine starts in his first season with Houston a year ago. He totaled 62 tackles and three tackles for a loss. It was a far cry from his last season in Indianapolis in 2024 where he ended up with 142 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, and an interception. Speed played more on special teams than he did on defense with Houston as he served as the third linebacker behind Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To'oTo'o. Barring injuries, he is expected to stay in the same role in 2026 and will likely remain off the IDP fantasy radar.
