Antonio Gates expected to rotate snaps with Hunter Henry in 2016

Heading into the 2015 season, Chargers TE Antonio Gates stated that he would like to reduce his overall snap count. However, nothing ever materialized of those hopes as he found himself on the field for a majority of the teams' snaps. He hauled in 56-of-84 targets for 630 yards and five touchdowns. After the team selected rookie Hunter Henry in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, Gates' wish could come fruition. According to Eric Williams of ESPN the Chargers are expected to rotate snaps for the two playmakers rather than rolling with two-TE sets. (Eric Williams on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

As the most trusted weapon in the San Diego offense, Antonio Gates will still surely be utilized in red zone packages and third down work. He is currently ranked as the 12th tight end overall in our standard ECR rankings and is a safe bet as a low-end TE1. Hunter Henry is currently 39th.
