Basham has the size and strength profile that 4-3 teams are going to fall in love with. He has a big and dense frame that's able to stand up to OTs on the edge in the run game. Lacks refined hand usage or technique in the pass rush game though. Wins from time to time, but it's not with a specific plan in mind. Needs to work on this to be more effective at the next level. Good first step explosiveness off the line for his size. Needs to improve his play recognition in run defense, but does show a good ability to detach from blockers and make a play on the ball. Just needs to learn to keep his eyes in the backfield and he can be very effective at the next level as a run defender. Plays with a high motor. Constantly chasing down ball-carriers 20+ yards downfield. Smart player already and able to capitalize on stunts and loops, etc. Lacks bend off the edge though. Needs improvement as a pass rusher to be a true 3-down player. Basham has the upside that will have teams looking his way in the second round of the NFL Draft. If he can improve on a couple of key areas at the next level, he'll be a dominant force.
