| Derek Brown FantasyPros | Mike Evans has a new home with the 49ers, and he looks like a wonderful value in fantasy drafts. Yes, Evans dealt with hamstring issues again last year, but that wasn't the big limiting factor in his games played. That was related to a broken collarbone. For all of the injury talk about Evans, before the 2025 season, he had never played less than 13 games in any season, and since 2020 he had played at least 14 games in every season. Evans might be older, but he hasn't slowed down when you look at his metrics. Last year, during his seven full games played, he had a 24.4% target share, a 30.6% first-read share, and 0.116 first downs per route run (per Fantasy Points Data). Among 109 qualifying receivers last year, those numbers would have ranked 13th-best across the board. Yes, during that sample, he had only 1.86 yards per route run and 52.6 receiving yards per game, which would have ranked 31st and 33rd among the same group of receivers, but that was more related to Baker Mayfield's inaccuracy than Evans slowing down. In his full games played, Evans had only a 70.9% catchable target rate, which among those 109 receivers would have ranked 84th. Evans on field production didn't match his deeper analytics and target-earning ability, as he was also second-best in separation and route win rate last season. If he can stay healthy this season, he should be one of the best values on the board for fantasy season with WR1 upside. | After a long offseason, Stefon Diggs is finally a Washington Commander. We've all speculated all offseason that Diggs would possibly land with Washington, and now it has come to fruition. Diggs had a strong 2025 season that proved that he has plenty left in the tank to post a strong fantasy season in 2026. Last year, he was the WR23 in fantasy points per game with only a 65.4% route share (62nd out of 109 qualifying receivers). Among 109 qualifying receivers, he was stellar on a per-route basis, ranking 22nd in target per route run rate (25%), 20th in receiving yards per game (59.6), and eighth in yards per route run (2.53) and first downs per route run (0.127, per Fantasy Points Data). Among the same sample of receivers, he was also 28th in overall separation score, 18th in separation versus man coverage, 22nd in route win rate against man coverage, and 11th in yards per route run against both man and zone coverages. Diggs didn't show any falloff, so I'm not projecting that for 2026, being even further out from his ACL reconstruction. Diggs is a strong WR3 with upside this season. I expect the Washington passing attack to be funneled through Diggs and Terry McLaurin. |
| Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Mike Evans enters his first season with San Francisco with more risk than ever before, but the touchdown upside remains extremely enticing. Injuries limited Evans in 2025, though he still commanded strong target volume whenever healthy and continued to draw top defensive attention. The veteran receiver now joins a 49ers offense that should create immediate red-zone opportunities, especially with George Kittle recovering from an Achilles injury. Evans may not offer elite weekly consistency, but his size and scoring ability make him a strong bet for double-digit touchdowns if the 33-year-old can stay on the field. | Stefon Diggs did not run a full allotment of routes for the Patriots despite being hyper-targeted as their No. 1 WR last year. But after getting his legs wet through the first three weeks of the season, he was highly efficient from Weeks 4-17: 4th in yards per route run (2.67). He finished with 100 targets during the regular season and finished as the WR29 in PPG (9.9). He will turn 33 years old this season (coming off lackluster playoff performances), but his game seems more likely to age gracefully based on his strengths as a route runner. He will catch passes from Jayden Daniels as the team's presumed No. 2 WR option after signing a 1-year $12M deal with the Washington Commanders in free agency. |
