Fantasy Impact: It's another significant blow for the Capitals who will also be without forward T.J. Oshie for the time being, also due to a lower-body injury. Carlson is off to a typically nice start to the season with two goals and six points across nine games while averaging three shots per game. Matt Irwin will make his season debut in Carlson's place.

Fantasy Impact: Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said Samuelsson has an MRI and It was revealed he would miss a few weeks with an upper-body injury. Surprisingly signed to a seven-year deal at the beginning of the season, the 22-year-old went without a point across the first five games of the season, collected 11 hits, 11 blocks, two penalty minutes, and a plus-six rating as part of his 19:36 of average ice time. The Sabres' blueline is further depleted with fellow defender Henri Jokiharju also out week-to-week after taking a puck to the face.

Fantasy Impact: Jokiharju took a puck to the face in Calgary last Thursday and suffered a broken bone right under his nose. The 23-year-old has seen limited action this season, skating in just four games and averaging 15:49 of ice time, a massive decline from his 21:53 average last season. He's collected just one assist on the season and remains well off the fantasy radar.

Fantasy Impact: After a few down seasons, Johnson was off to a nice start this time around with two goals and six points in as many games, adding 13 hits and six penalty minutes to his ledger. He's struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons and Thursday's injured reserve placement is another blow to a player that once produced 72 points in a season.

Fantasy Impact: Head coach Peter DeBoer made the announcement this afternoon that his young stud blueliner will not suit up Thursday against Washington due to an upper-body injury and he's listed as day-to-day. It's a notable blow for a Stars team off to a fast start this season as Heiskanen leads all Stars skaters with 24:48 of average ice time while collecting two goals and three points in six games. The 23-year-old Finn posted 36 points across 70 games a season ago.

Fantasy Impact: Coyotes general manager Bill Armstong delivered the news Thursday that Chychrun remains out for a while after suffering a setback from his wrist injury. Much of the league has been anticipating the return of perhaps the most valuable player on the trade market, but it appears he's still a ways away from game action. The 24-year-old tallied seven goals and 21 points in 47 games last season but broke out with 18 goals and 41 points across 56 games in the 2020-21 campaign.

Fantasy Impact: Sundqvist played Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils but is apparently in jeopardy of missing Thursday's contest against the Boston Bruins. Sundqvist is off to a nice start this season, posting a goal and five points in six games, and was getting first-unit power-play reps before the injury. That said, he has just six shots and should remain off the fantasy radar as a result.

Fantasy Impact: Boqvist has played in four games this season, going pointless with three shots on goal and a minus-one rating in that time. The ultra-skilled offensive blueliner notched 11 goals and 22 points in 52 games with the Jackets last season, his first in Columbus following a trade with the Blackhawks. The 22-year-old former first-rounder has put up solid production in his brief NHL career but has struggled to stay in the lineup.

Fantasy Impact: Kravtsov originally got a crack at second-line duties alongside Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck to open the season, but injuries have since taken their toll. He was injured on opening night and has now played just three games on the season, going pointless with zero shots in the process. Julien Gauthier makes his season debut in Kravtsov's place.

Fantasy Impact: Marchand won't play in either of the Bruins' next two games but will play prior to American Thanksgiving. Originally slated to return late in November after offseason hip surgery, Marchand is seemingly well ahead of schedule. It's a welcomed site for fantasy owners as they'll soon welcome back one of the top left-wing options in the game on the heels of an 80-point season across just 70 contests.

Fantasy Impact: Head coach DJ Smith told reporters Norris is out for three-to-five months with a shoulder injury. Norris hurt the same shoulder last season, but apparently, this is a separate injury. While surgery isn't certain, it appears Norris will be lucky to return this season after posting one goal and one assist in five games.

Fantasy Impact: The nature of Boeser's injury is of the undisclosed variety. He underwent hand surgery in training camp, but there isn't any indication this is a hand-related injury. In search of a bounce-back season, Boeser has recorded four assists and nine shots in six games along with a minus-three rating.

Fantasy Impact: Ehlers was listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest against the Avalanche with an undisclosed injury, eventually missing the contest in Denver. There's no word on the exact nature of the ailment, but Ehlers is out at least seven days meaning he will miss a minimum of two more games. He has collected three assists and seven shots on goal across two games on the heels of a 55-point campaign spanning 62 games a season ago.

Fantasy Impact: Head coach Jared Bednar did not specify the ailment but said Toews is a little sore and could miss Saturday's contest against the Golden Knights as well. Toews burst onto the scene as a fantasy stud last season, posting 13 goals and 57 points in 66 games and has three assists in four games so far this season.


Gabriel Landeskog will miss the next three months after undergoing an arthroscopic knee procedure. He was apparently having trouble during training camp and getting going on the ice so it was decided this was the best course of action.

Fantasy Impact: This shouldn't come as any surprise to fantasy managers who drafted him as he was expected to miss time going into the draft. The extension does stink however. Slot him into your IR position and wait for him to be back in January. Expect Artturi Lehkonen and/or Valeri Nichushkin to fill in on the wing for the highly-potent Avalanche top line.

Fantasy Impact: Murray will now miss a minimum of four weeks after suffering the groin injury during the team’s morning skate ahead of a Saturday night home matchup against the Ottawa Senators. Ilya Samsonov immediately becomes a must-own option for fantasy owners with 2021-22 late-season darling Erik Kallgren recalled to backup Samsonov with Murray on the shelf.

Fantasy Impact: It appears DeBrusk's ailment is of the upper-body variety with few details available at this point. The injury further depletes the Bruins' left wing position with Brad Marchand still healing from offseason hip surgery. The 25-year-old finished strong with the Bruins last season, posting 25 goals and 42 points across 77 contests.

Fantasy Impact: Blueger suffered the injury during a training camp practice and will miss Thursday's season opener as a result. More valuable to the Penguins than fantasy owners, Blueger posted nine goals and 28 points across 65 games last season and figures to fill a bottom-six role this season.

Fantasy Impact: This is a big blow for both the Blues and Perunovich in what was a potential breakout season. Perunovich tallied a hefty 22 points in 17 games with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds while he collected six assists in 19 NHL games with the Blues. A big-time point-producer in college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, it appears his breakout campaign will have to wait another year.

Fantasy Impact: Acquired in an off-season trade with the Minnesota Wild, Talbot was set to share the Senators' crease with Anton Forsberg in Ottawa. Talbot went 32-12-4 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .911 Sv% across 49 appearances last season with the Wild, but this timeline puts him out of action until at least the second week of November. Forsberg's fantasy stock stands to rise as a result.
