Michael Hutchinson was placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. The 29-year-old goaltender went 0-4-1 with a 4.44 goals-against average and an .879 save percentage this season. (Bob McKenzie on Twitter)

This move comes less than 24 hours after Hutchinson was torched for five goals on 34 shots in what was his fifth straight loss to open the season. The Leafs were simply unable to get it done with Hutchinson backstopping them, so he'll either be picked up by another organization or find himself in the AHL where he's better suited. It's likely Kasimir Kaskisuo (6-1-1, 2.13 GAA, .928 SV%) is called up from the Toronto Marlies in a corresponding move. It remains to be seen if the Leafs look to bring in another goaltender from outside the organization.
