Wayne Simmonds scored a goal 7:13 into the third period to put Toronto up by a score of 3-2. Although Calgary would tie the game less than three minutes later, the Maple Leafs would eventual prevail 5-3, proving Simmonds' goal was essential to the team's victory.

The last time Simmonds had scored was back on February 6 against the Vancouver Canucks. He actually scored two goals that night. His injury and a recent scoring slump are the reasons for this lengthy period of time without a goal. In 21 games played he has six goals and seven points.
