Tom Wilhelmsen placed on the disabled list

The Seattle Mariners are placing Tom Wilhelmsen on the disabled list with a back injury and recall Dae-ho Lee from Triple-A.

Fantasy Impact

Wilhelmsen was at best a waiver wire fill in so this move does not have much of an impact in regards to anyone's fantasy baseball season.

Tom Wilhelmsen takes the loss

Tom Wilhelmsen surrendered a pair of runs in the seventh inning that broke a 1-1 tie as the Astros beat the Rangers for the first time this season. Wilhelmsen took the loss, allowing three hits and two runs in his two innings of work. He did strike out three batters as well.

Fantasy Impact

Wilhelmsen has been a huge disappointment for the Rangers this season. He was sent down to Triple-A where it appeared he had worked out the kinks, but tonight's outing is just another indicator that his struggles are continuing at the major league level.

Tom Wilhelmsen back with the big club

Tom Wilhelmsen returned to the majors today and faced off against his former team in a mop-up situation tonight. Wilhelmsen, the former closer for the Mariners, pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the Rangers 10-4 win over Seattle.

Fantasy Impact

Wilhelmsen had all sorts of issues and had been sent down to Triple-A Round Rock. When he was demoted, he was sporting an ERA just under 10.00. In five games at Round Rock, Wilhelmsen went 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA. He tossed eight innings, giving up five hits and just one run, while walking one and striking out five.

Tom Wilhelmsen optioned to Triple-A

Rangers reliever Tom Wilhelmsen has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock and replaced on the roster by Luke Jackson.

Fantasy Impact

This should come as a surprise to no one as Wilhelmsen has been nothing short of awful for most of the season. He appeared in 17 games for the Rangers with a 2-2 record and an ERA of 9.98. The former Mariners closer only had six K's in 15.1 innings and a WHIP over 2.00.

Another disastrous outing for Tom Wilhelmsen

Struggling Tom Wilhelmsen blew a save today, his second of the season, allowing four hits and three runs in just one inning of work, in the Rangers 7-6 win over Toronto.

Fantasy Impact

This season has been a nightmare for the former Mariners closer, and with Matt Bush now on the scene, don't be shocked if Wilhelmsen is given his release soon. He is currently 2-2 with a 9.98 ERA.
