Miami closer Heath Bell entered Sunday's game at Cleveland in the ninth inning with two runners on base and one out. Randy Choate put the runners on base and Bell promptly allowed a Jose Lopez RBI double off the wall on his first pitch upon entering. Bell allowed the other inherited run to score on a ground out, and then got the final out for his fifth save.

Miami closer Heath Bell entered the top of the ninth inning against the Mets on Sunday with the score tied at two runs apiece. Bell couldn't keep it that way as he allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks in the inning. Bell was in line to take the loss, but the Marlins scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the game 8-4. Despite the poor inning, Bell took the victory and improved...

Ozzie Guillen not ready to give up on Heath Bell as closer, but will use another option Thursday.
RotoInfo.com | May 3rd, 6:02am
Marlins closer Heath Bell has had a tenuous hold on the closer's role in Miami, given his struggles this season, and on Wednesday in San Francisco he was finally taken out, after coming in with a 2-0 lead and giving up three hits and a run without recording an out. He was pulled in favor of Steve Cishek, who allowed a bunt single to score the tying run, which was charged to Bell, before finishing the inning. Bell technically did not pick up the blown save, which would have been his fourth in seven opportunities, however he cost the Marlins another chance to win a game.

“Pitching for Florida gives Heath Bell a huge advantage. The Marlins are poised to be one of the top teams in the NL thanks to the addition of Jose Reyes, and the nice little boost to their pitching staff with Zambrano and Buehrle. Florida should easily win 85 Games this season, which could result into 40 saves for Bell. Not a huge K pitcher, Bell should still make up for it with a solid ERA.”

“I'm giving him more love than most, but I think he stays the same guy as he always was, just with a different team. It's not like Miami doesn't have a beach for him to go to on his off-days, routine should stay the same.”
