Baltimore closer Jim Johnson wrapped up his 15th save of the season on Saturday in Washington. He gave up one earned run off one hit before closing out the game. That lone hit was a solo homer to Ryan Zimmerman. Johnson also struck out one batter. The O's would beat the Nationals, 6-5.

Johnson gave up a single in the ninth, but otherwise had little trouble getting three outs for his 12th save of the season. Johnson needed just eight pitches and his ERA is at 0.54.

“Jimmy J. was an elite option to finish out the season last year. The Orioles were winning games at a high level, and Johnson was getting the job done against the Red Sox and Yankees with ease. Johnson does not have as long of a leash as other closers, but he should be a solid option all season long. Not a great K pitcher.”
