Top 5 highest drafted players projections. Seeing that the season is here and the top five players are almost consensus top five players, I decided to combine the top 5 into one post. Jose Bautista has 97 home runs in the last two seasons. That is 18 more than the next best player in baseball (Albert Pujols). He retains third base eligibility in most leagues this season and he added batting average...

How are lineups shaping up post-spring? Our Scott White goes position by position looking for hidden gems and busts for the opening week in his initial edition of Hit Parade. Coming off injury-plagued seasons, Joe Mauer and Buster Posey were both considered risky picks on Draft Day, but neither has given any indication this spring that he'll be less than full-go right out of the gate. If you drafted...

It seems for the first time in ages there is no clear-cut No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts. In early action, Miguel Cabrera, Matt Kemp, Albert Pujols, Troy Tulowitzki and Jose Bautista have staked their claim as most desirable. Each deserves to be in the conversation. The Yahoo! fantasy team, unsurprisingly, can't agree on which player should have his name called first. We debate the merits of each candidate...

“Durability, improved batting eye, qualifies at both 1B and 3B, and will have great protection hitting in front of Prince Fielder. Third base is not as deep as first base this season. Could Miggy get hurt (twisted ankle or elbow issues) by moving to 3B? Something to think about on draft day.”

“As if Miggy needed the boost in ranking, he will end up 3B eligible as well sooner than later. Before I get off topic, I'll remind myself that this is about the 1B however, and there is none better than Miggy. Although there is a strong argument for Pujols here, does it really matter? I'll take the younger guy who has decreased his K%, increased his BB%, and now has Prince Fielder as protection. Miggy is a legit Triple Crown threat, although I think his teammate will out-homer him. Regardless, I think his HR total creeps back to the mid-thirties range and he solidifies himself as the top hitter in baseball.”

“Cabrera's 2011 numbers were incredible, and now, in 2012, he'll have Prince Fielder protecting him. The only things holding him back from #1 are Cabrera's potential regression, and the idea that Gonzalez's numbers are sustainable due to improved shoulder health and a change of park. You really can't go wrong with Cabrera, though.”

“Miguel will not open up the season eligible at 3rd Base. But it will not take long for the ex 120 RBI man to qualify there. With Prince Fielder protecting him in that Tigers lineup, which could potentially lead the majors in runs. There is no reason to think Miggy cannot be the potential #1 option in all of baseball. His batting average has been over .320 in 6 of the past 7 seasons, including last year’s .344.”
