Reds reliever Sean Marshall entered Monday's series opener against the Braves in the ninth inning with two on, two out and a three-run lead. After Jose Arredondo was unable to get the job done, the left-hander got Jason Heyward to pop out to secure the 4-1 win and collect his eighth save of the season.

Reds closer Sean Marshall struggled on Saturday afternoon in New York. Marshall entered in the ninth inning to protect a 6-3 lead. He made things very interesting as he allowed two earned runs on four base hits while only getting one out. He was replaced by Jose Arredondo, who got the final two outs for the save. Marshall earned a hold, but was not effective in his role.

Cincinnati closer Sean Marshall made just his second appearance in May on Monday night in a win over the Brewers. Marshall did not pitch in a save situation, however, as the Reds held a 6-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth in Milwaukee. Marshall gave up a hit, but struck out two batters for a quiet inning. His ERA is at 4.35 on the year.
