Joel Embiid to miss second straight season

by Dale Redman | 76ers Correspondent | Wed, Aug 19th 4:48pm EDT

After successful surgery on his foot Tuesday, 76ers center Joel Embiid will not play in the 2015-16 NBA season. The recovery timetable for his injury is five to eight months. Philadelphia is going to take extra caution and hold him out the whole year as this was his second surgery on the same foot. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Bad news for 76ers fans as it will be another lost year for the 2014 No. 3 overall pick. With Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor in the frontcourt, there was not much need to rush Embiid back. Foot injuries have derailed other notable bigs careers, Yao Ming and Bill Walton come to mind. Hopefully, Embiid can buck the trend and come back healthy for the 2016-17 season. Obviously avoid in re-draft leagues and proceed with caution in dynasty and keeper leagues this season.
