Bilal Coulibaly underwent surgery on Friday to repair a ligament tear in his right thumb and is likely to miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season. (Shams Charania on Twitter)

Coulibaly sustained the injury while playing with the French national team during FIBA EuroBasket. He started 59 games for the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 12.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. With Coulibaly expected to miss the beginning of the season, Kyshawn George or Justin Champagnie could step into the starting rotation.
