For a majority of the game, Torrey Smith was not a threat to the Steelers' defense. However, 49ers fans finally got to see the speedster run in open space as Kaepernick found Smith for a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Like most starters around the league, the 49ers' first-team offense sat out the preseason finale against the San Diego Chargers. Kaepernick had a very mediocre preseason. In the third preseason game, he went 2-for-5 with just 13 passing yards.

Brandon Crawford sat out of Tuesday's showdown against the Dodgers while dealing with soreness from a wild pitch in Monday's game. It has been an injury-riddled past couple of weeks for Crawford, first with the oblique tightness and now the leg soreness. Due to the Giants facing Kershaw tonight, who pitches lefty, Crawford is likely to rest for the night and Ehire Adrianze will get the starting role at shortstop.

Buster Posey was held to zero hits after four AB in Sunday's win against the Nationals. Posey's struggles were overshadowed by the incredible efforts of pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who single-handedly shut down the Nationals.

Giants second baseman Joe Panik has amassed a ridiculous 109 hits this season while batting .314. Panik has helped establish one of the strongest hitting teams in the MLB, as well as one of the most reliable infields in the league. Panik went 0-for-3 in the Giants' blowout victory over the Padres on Tuesday.

Defensively, everyone knew Brandon Crawford was an All-Star, but offensively, no one expected Crawford to be hitting this well in 2015. Brandon Crawford homered in Tuesday's win over the Padres and batted in three RBI.

Brandon Crawford was the only Giant to register a hit in this year's All-Star Game. Crawford was not a starter in the All-Star Game but came on late and drove in one run. The NL All-Stars lost to the AL All-Stars 6-3.

Santiago Casilla pitched one hitless inning against the Mets to close out a hard-earned win for the Giants. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak.

In the month of July, Brandon Belt has seen 19 AB and produced six hits. Although he has not hit a home run in July, he has driven in three RBI. With a .316 average, Belt and the Giants head into a matchup against pitching ace Jacob deGrom.

Buster Posey will miss his second game in a row with an injury that is now being diagnosed as hamstring tightness. This should come as a relief to Posey's owners, as he should return to action on Friday.
