Brandon LaFell (foot) was among eight Patriots players placed on the team's Active/Physically Unable to Perform list in advance of training camp, csnne.com reports. (Source: CSNNE)
Fantasy Impact: It appears as though the Patriots are exercising caution with Brandon LaFell. He is coming off of a foot injury and will hopefully be ready for the opening of the season. LaFell had a strong season last year with 74 catches and should get similar numbers this year if healthy.
LaFell says he had to let his body heal from lingering soreness that carried over into spring from last year. He had nearly 1,000 yards in 2014 and indeed, it was a career year for him, with 74 receptions. He claims to finally be healthy and is looking forward to being a full participant in camp. Fantasy Impact: Look for LaFell to pick up where he left off last year and have another great year, hopefully without the nagging injuries. LaFell enjoys working with Tom Brady and he says he has learned from Brady by picking his brain during the time they have been together.
Brandon LaFell caught four passes for 28 yards in the Patriots 45-7 victory over the Colts in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: Brandon LaFell was not a large part of the game-plan for the Patriots during their 45-7 blowout victory over the Colts. This was LaFell's lowest production week since Week 5. LaFell will continue to see looks from Brady as they head into Seattle's "Legion of Boom". The biggest question for LaFell will be where he will line up during the Super Bowl, I am sure the Patriots will have multiple looks for Seattle come Super Bowl Sunday.
Brandon LaFell caught 5 receptions for 62 yards and scored the game winning TD in the Patriots 35-31 win over the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact: The Patriots threw the ball 51 times clearly targeting the weak Ravens secondary. LaFell was the recipient of a great throw from Tom Brady on what ended up being the game winning Touchdown for the Patriots. LaFell's production will be game-plan specific but Brady continues to show confidence in LaFell's first year with the Patriots.
Brandon LaFell was limited at practice on Wednesday's practice for the Patriots as he battles through toe and shoulder issues.
Fantasy Impact: LaFell is in no danger of missing his first playoff game with the Patriots on Saturday vs. the Ravens. Tom Brady will need all of his weapons including LaFell healthy against this tough match-up with the Ravens.
Brandon LaFell caught 4 of his 6 targets for 70 yards in the Patriots Week 17 loss to the Bills.
Fantasy Impact: LaFell did tweak an ankle late in the game but did return to the field late. LaFell had a solid game with 70 yards receiving but failed to take complete advantage of Edelman and Gronkowski being out today.
LaFell is questionable for Week 17 as he has been in the past 5 weeks of play, but LaFell has continued to play through this shoulder injury.
Fantasy Impact: LaFell could see less snaps this week with the Patriots already wrapping up the #1 seed in the AFC. In LaFell's last 5 games he has had at least 4 receptions and continues to be a steady performer in the high powered Patriot offense.
LaFell caught 7 passes on 10 targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Jets. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell took advantage of Edelman being out in the Week 16 match-up vs. the Jets. LaFell saw 10 targets and hauled in 7 of them. Although LaFell did not score he was a viable option in PPR leagues with those 7 receptions. Next up for LaFell and the Patriots is the Buffalo Bills.
Brandon LaFell is listed as active vs. Jets in the Week 16 AFC match-up. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell will be seeing more targets than usual this week with Julian Edelman out of the game. Week 16 brings most championship games and LaFell being Brady's #2 option this week could result in a solid game from the wideout!
Brandon LaFell will play in Week 15 after being questionable all week. Nursing a shoulder injury the last couple of weeks, LaFell will look to get back on track against the Dolphins. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell is coming off a disappointing outing in Week 14 and will look to rebound in Week 15. In LaFell's last 3 home games he has scored double digit fantasy points, and should be a solid play against the Dolphins.
Brandon LaFell caught 4 of 9 passes for 41 yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Chargers, and he lost a fumble for the first time in his career. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell picked a bad time to fumble for the first time in his career, which ended up being returned for a touchdown for the Chargers. Good thing for LaFell he did not fall victim to a benching but had his lowest production total since Week 5 against Cincinnati. LaFell will look to get back on track against Miami in Week 15 and gain Brady's full confidence back riding into the playoffs!
Brandon LaFell is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers. LaFell had missed some practice this week with a shoulder injury. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell has 14 receptions in his last two games. He is coming off a two touchdown game last week vs. the Packers. LaFell has 7 touchdowns on the year as Tom Brady continues to show confidence in his wide out.
Patriot's wide-receiver Brandon LaFell caught 11-of-11 targets for 124 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 8 win over the Bears.
Fantasy Impact: LaFell continued his streak of success, and is benefiting as the Patriot's offense is taking more shots down-field. He's got the trust of Tom Brady and the coaching staff, and will be a legit WR3 in Week 8 against a tough Broncos defense.
Patriot's wide receiver Brandon LaFell caught six passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 4 loss to the Chiefs.
Fantasy Impact: With only three receivers active for the game, and Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman unable to shake the Chiefs' coverage, LaFell saw a team-high 10 targets. It's unlikely he'll see this much action again, after failing to impress earlier in the season.
Patriot's WR Brandon LaFell hauled in 2 balls on 5 targets for 14 yards in the Patriot's 30-7 win over the Panthers on Friday night.
Fantasy Impact: It's clear LaFell is still getting used to the Patriot's offensive scheme, but Tom Brady definitely felt comfortable targeting him. In a crowded Patriots receiving corps, it's going to be hard for LaFell to contribute much fantasy-wise this year.
ESPN Boston reports that Patriot's wide receiver Brandon LaFell is feeling a lot more comfortable in New England, after initially feeling "shell-shocked." Coach Bill Belichick added "he might be able to carve out a role for himself...it might be a big one." (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: The Patriot's offensive scheme is deep and complicated, so it's understandable that LaFell needed some time to acclimate himself in first year with New England. The Patriot's have a crowded receiving corps, but LaFell has a shot to contribute. He's gone 4-for-7 with 45 yards and a touchdown in two preseason games.
Brandon LaFell caught two catches on three targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason match up against the Eagles.
Fantasy Impact: In a crowded Patriot's receiving corps, it's going to be an uphill battle for LaFell to earn playing time this year. He's been improving his chemistry with Tom Brady at camp, and with many of the Patriot's receivers having past injury issues, he'll have a shot to contribute.
Brandon LaFell's concentration problems have followed him from last season, with Patriots Football Weekly noting that the wide receiver's "inconsistent hands" are drawing negative attention early on at camp. (Source: Patriots Football Weekly)
Fantasy Impact: LaFell is already buried in the depth chart and it's going to take him some time to learn the Patriot's complicated offensive playbook. He's not helping his cause with concentration issues early on at camp, especially with his 14% drop rate in 2013. Lafell has the size and separation ability to potentially fill Aaron Hernandez's role in the slot if he can turn things around, but his sleeper potential is dwindling.
Any Patriots receiver not named Gronkowski or Edelman carries some risk, but LaFell played well last season and is the only big play wide receiver they have. I think a season much like last year's is very much in play this year. You just have to realize the game plan will often dictate if he has a productive fantasy game.
