Fantasy Impact: McCluster injured his knee in last Sunday's game against the Jets. He ends his season with 40 carries for 131 yards, and 26 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown. WR Rico Richardson will take McCluster's spot on the active roster.
RB Dexter McCluster finished with nine carries for 33 rushing yards and two receptions for 11 yards in the loss to the Texans.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster has been more involved on offense the past few weeks. Last week he caught a touchdown, and this week he set a season high for touches at 11. His main role is as the return man, but he has been making a case to get more touches on offense with Bishop Sankey struggling to produce. McCluster is a great receiving option out of the back field, so when the Titans are playing from behind he will get more opportunities. He isn't a fantasy option yet, but he is knocking of the door of fantasy relevancy.
In an interview with Paul Kuharsky, running backs coach, Sylvester Croom, outlined the Titans' plan to keep McCluster healthy. "I'm not concerned about that at all because what he'll do is, the thing he and I have talked about, is make sure he stays low enough where they don't target his core," Croom says. Croom also went on to say that McCluster won't be asked to do much in the way of pass protection. (Source: ESPN)
Fantasy Impact: The Titans clearly plan to get McCluster out in space as much as possible in 2014, allowing Shonn Greene and Bishop Sankey to do the dirty work between the tackles. McCluster has impressed thus far in training camp and could offer great value with a current ECR of below 200.
Jim Wyatt on Twitter reports that Dexter McCluster has been the most impressive Titan at camp thus far. (Source: Jim Wyatt on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: This isn't the first glowing review McCluster has had this offseason, getting praise throughout OTAs and the team's mini camps. Sankey was still a student, and wasn't allowed to join the team due to NFL regulations while Shonn Greene was still recovering from a knee surgery this offseason. McCluster was getting all of the snaps at running backs during OTAs. This is shaping up to be a special season for the former Chief.
