Fantasy Impact: In the exchange, the Sabres sent Casey Middlestadt to Colorado. Byram gives the Sabres another talented blueliner to pair with Owen Power and Rasmus Dahlin as the club makes a serious push towards a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Byram has posted 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) to go along with 60 hits in 55 games so far this season.

Alexandar Georgiev was peppered in net for the Avalanche Saturday night, stopping 39 of 43 shots faced in a 4-0 shutout loss to the Panthers.

Fantasy Impact: Georgiev has struggled to keep the puck out of the net of late, allowing three or more goals in six of his last nine starts (4-4-1) for the Avalanche. The netminder has provided fantasy managers with mixed results in the crease most nights, posting an .899 save percentage and 2.94 GAA with two shutouts in 44 appearances (27-13-3) between the pipes so far this season.

Valeri Nichushkin tallied one assist Wednesday night in an Avalanche' 5-2 loss to the Penguins.

Fantasy Impact: Nichushkin has been strong in the offensive zone of late for the Avalanche, notching points in 12 of his last 15 games (six goals, 14 assists) for the club. Evan Rodrigues was able to light the lamp for the Avalanche Saturday, scoring one goal in a 4-2 win over the Blues.

Fantasy Impact: Rodrigues has picked up points in 12 of his last 15 games for the Avalanche, scoring four goals and notching 11 assists in that span. The 29-year-old has been a surprising option for fantasy owners thanks to his new home with the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche, recording 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 37 games so far this season.

Pavel Francouz was stellar in net for the Avalanche Saturday night, stopping 26 of 27 shots faced in a 2-1 win over the Kraken.

Fantasy Impact: Francouz has been strong between the pipes of late for the Avalanche, allowing three goals or less in each of his last six starts (5-1-0, .938 save percentage) for the club. The 32-year-old netminder has been the perfect complement to No. 1 goaltender Alexandar Georgiev this season, posting a 2.47 GAA and .920 save percentage in 13 starts (7-6-0) in the crease for the club.

Alex Newhook was able to light the lamp for the Avalanche Saturday night, scoring one goal in a 2-1 win over the Kraken.

Fantasy Impact: Newhook has now picked up points in three of his last five games for the Avalanche, scoring three goals and adding two assists in that span. The 21-year-old has offered minimal production for much of the season to this point, scoring 10 goals and adding eight assists for 18 points in 45 games so far this season.

Samuel Girard was able to light the lamp for the Avalanche Thursday night, scoring one goal in a 4-2 loss to the Canucks.

Fantasy Impact: Girard has now picked up points in three of his last six games for the Avalanche, scoring two goals and adding one assist in that span. The 24-year-old blueliner has been more impactful in the defensive zone for much of the season for the Avalanche, recording just eight points (three goals, five assists) in 31 games so far this season.

Logan O'Connor netted the game-tying goal on Tuesday night helping lift the Avalanche to a 3-2 shootout win in New York. He tallied a goal, a plus-1 rating, three shots, one hit and one block.

Fantasy Impact: Andrew Cogliano was tracking the puck into the corner and Shesterkin made a move to play the puck in the corner. He had his pocket picked and O'Connor capitalized by coming in late and find the Rangers net minder out of position. It's his first of the season.

Gabriel Landeskog will miss the next three months after undergoing an arthroscopic knee procedure. He was apparently having trouble during training camp and getting going on the ice so it was decided this was the best course of action.

Fantasy Impact: This shouldn't come as any surprise to fantasy managers who drafted him as he was expected to miss time going into the draft. The extension does stink however. Slot him into your IR position and wait for him to be back in January. Expect Artturi Lehkonen and/or Valeri Nichushkin to fill in on the wing for the highly-potent Avalanche top line.

Josh Manson scored the GWG for Colorado bringing them to 2-1 by downing the Minnesota Wild. He tallied a goal, a plus-1 rating, two PIMs, three shots and three hits through 17:14 TOI.

Fantasy Impact: Manson, who isn't known for his offensive-zone prowess was deep in the corner and made his way off the boards to the front of the net. He placed a tidy back-hand through some bodies and buried his first of 2022 in the top right corner.

Ben Meyers scored the opening goal for Colorado as they defeated the hosting Minnesota Wild on Monday night. He finished the game with a goal, a plus-1 rating, two shots and one hit.

Fantasy Impact: Erik Johnson was skirting the blue line and lofted a wrister on net. Meyers got his stick on it (just below shoulder-level), redirected it into a Wild defender, and over the shoulder of FIlip Gustavsson for the Avs' first of the night.

Alex Galchenyuk had signed a professional tryout with the defending Cup champs on Sept. 20 but has been released from that deal. (Source: Peter Baugh on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The journeyman has looked to revive his NHL career with several clubs over the last few seasons and it appears that search will continue towards the 2022-23 campaign. A former 30-goal scorer, Galchenyuk most recently tallied six goals and 21 points across 60 games with the Arizona Coyotes last season.

Nazem Kadri registered a goal, a minus-1 rating, and two shots as the Avalanche fell to the hosting Minnesota Wild on Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Rantanen was able to recover the puck in the Minnesota zone and had Kadri open. He put a wrist shot on net and it snuck through Marc-Andre Fleury's arm for his 28th on the year. The marker bumps him up to 87 points through 71 games played with Colorado. Kadri cooled off as the season wound down but made his presence felt on the stat sheet. He will be looking for a new contract next year and his production will help him pull in a decent payday. Hopefully he will be able to play in every post season game in 2022.

Erik Johnson scores one for Avs

Erik Johnson netted a goal in Colorado's 5-3 victory over the visiting St. Louis Blues. He also contributed three shots, hits and blocks.

Fantasy Impact: The goal was the result of Alex Newhook hacking the puck off St. Louis while they were trying to break out. J.T. Compher made a drive towards the net and created a rebound. Johson collected and scored on the open net for his eighth goal and 25th point this season.

Darcy Kuemper turned away 28 of 31 shots for a .903 save percentage on Tuesday night, backstopping the Avalanche to a 5-3 home-win over the St. Louis Blues.

Fantasy Impact: There we go. The win snaps the Avalanche out of a season-long, four-game losing streak. The last time they dropped three in a row was way back in October when STL, WSH and FLA bested them, 5-3, 6-3 and 4-1. O'Reilly struck twice late in the third period to bring it within one but Kadri cashed in on the open net for the insurance goal. The win moves Kuemper to 36-12-0-3 with a 2.51 GAA and .922 save percentage. Look for Pavel Francouz to fill in at least one of the remaining two starts.
