“The experts don’t know squat” seems to be a fairly common belief among fantasy football players. Just read the comments people leave for well known experts and you’ll see a ton of unnecessary bashing. Well, similar to our forum competition, we want to channel this energy into more productive activities.
Rather than bash the experts, why not just compete with them? We’re making that possible this season with a few games and contests that will measure – objectively – how you stack up to the pros. To add a little incentive (as if you need it), we’re giving away a minimum of $22,500 in prizes through our sponsor, FanDuel. By “giving away” I mean the contests will be FREE to all our registered users. And yep, registration is free too.
Interested? Join us now so we can be sure to let you know when we’re ready to have you suit up.
Meanwhile, here’s a preview of two weekly contests that we’ll be running:
Who Should I Start? – Fantasy Pick’em Game
Simply answer 10 of our toughest start/sit questions each week and see how accurate you are relative to all the experts. After 16 weeks, we’ll have 160 predictions (I’m a math whiz) to base your accuracy off of. That’s a lot less than the million predictions we scored for our expert accuracy competition, but we want to keep this thing fun and fast for everyone.
We’ll show how you rank overall and against each of the experts we track! And best of all, we’ll be giving away weekly prizes during the season to the top performers, with a total prize pool of $6,500.
Beat the Expert – Salary Cap Game
Each week we’ll feature a top expert and let you play against him in a one-week salary cap game. If you beat him, you’ll win a $5 bounty. If you’re one of the top finishers overall, you’ll get a share of the $16,000 prize pool ($1,000 each week). This contest is completely free to enter.
So what’s in it for the expert other than a chance to earn some more respect? Each expert will be competing for a charitable cause. FantasyPros will donate a total of $2,000 to charities chosen by the top performing experts. The more players the expert beats, the more likely he’ll earn a donation for his charity. It’s our way of making sure everyone wins!
Here’s the expert lineup for the first 9 weeks . . . we are incredibly honored to have such a strong set of professionals, and we can’t thank them enough for volunteering their time. More importantly, check out the great charities we’ll be able to promote through this fun competition:
Week 1: Jamey Eisenberg (CBS) – American Cancer Society
Week 2: Andy Behrens (Yahoo) – Greater Chicago Food Depository
Week 3: Gregg Rosenthal (Rotoworld) – American Red Cross
Week 4: Brad Evans (Yahoo) – Make a Wish Foundation
Week 5: Dave Richard (CBS) – Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Week 6: Evan Silva (Rotoworld) – Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Week 7: Scott Pianowski (Yahoo) – National Breast Cancer Foundation
Week 8: John Paulsen (FantasyShrink) – American Heart Association
Week 9: Chris Wesseling (Rotoworld) – St. Jude Children’s Research
FantasyPros is all about creating a level playing field so we can recognize and reward the top experts in our industry. We’re glad you’ll have a chance to enter the ring this year . . . just remember to bring your pads because we have some heavy hitters ready to take you on!
