Contest Results from Week 2: It Ain’t Easy

This week wasn’t very nice to a lot of fantasy players (sorry Jamaal Charles owners and, more importantly, best wishes to Jamaal for a speedy recovery). You could say the same for our Beat the Expert participants. We’re trying hard to give away a lot of money, but it looks like the experts are going to make you earn every penny. Only 15 people out of 1,366 entries were able to take down Andy Behrens! Andy actually had a shot to do even better, but Mario’s Manningham’s first half exit pulled the plug on his team early.

Kudos to Andy for finishing in the top 1% of all entries. Think it was a one-week fluke? Keep in mind that he finished in the top 7.7% in last year’s Beat the Expert contest (over 1400 entries), and he was our top rated expert in 2009 and #3 in 2010. Now that I jinxed him with accolades, he’s doomed to provide some inaccurate advice this week, so tread carefully.
 
Congrats to our top 10 who will get a share of our $1,000 prize pool sponsored by FanDuel. Our Week 2 winner, Jeano44, had an absolutely sick team — every player scored in double digits! He was particularly accurate with his WR picks, Miles Austin and Vincent Jackson. Nice job Jeano44!
 
Speaking of accurate picks, our “10 toughest start/sit calls” from Week 2 proved to be even more difficult than we imagined. We had over 3,000 people submit their picks and only 1 person was able to get all 9 correct (we threw out the Knowshon Moreno matchup since he was inactive). Overall the average person made the right call 48% of the time. Yep, worse than a coin flip. 4 people even managed to get all the picks incorrect (I won’t name names). It was a rough week for sure, but a few experts managed to do pretty darn well with these 9 tough calls. Sigmund Bloom from FootballGuys, Jason Sarney from FantasyPhenoms, and Michael Fabiano from NFL.com did particularly well. You can check out their scores here.
