Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 6

Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 6
Jay Cutler is once again a viable streaming option

Jay Cutler is once again a viable streaming option

With more and more fantasy owners opting to wait on the quarterback and tight end positions in drafts, streaming each position has become a viable option. This is made easier by the fact that there are usually solid options on the waiver wire. Each week this column will scour the waiver wire and look for quarterbacks and tight ends who are less than 50% owned and could be worth starting for your fantasy team. All ownership percentages come from Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Quarterback

Teddy Bridgewater – Minnesota Vikings (44% owned)
vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Bridgewater has not put up gaudy numbers this year in the run-first Vikings offense, but he has the best possible matchup for quarterbacks on tap with the Chiefs coming into town. The Kansas City secondary has been torched by opposing quarterbacks this season for 23.4 fantasy points per game. Bridgewater finally showed some chemistry with Mike Wallace in their last game, connecting for eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. Wallace should be able to get behind the Kansas City secondary with regularity in this matchup.

Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears (32% owned)
@ Detroit Lions

Cutler surely made fantasy owners who streamed him last week happy as he threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs in Week 5. Even more impressive is the fact that he did this without Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal, who were both inactive for the game. Cutler’s outlook will get a significant upgrade if one or both of them are able to play. The Lions are a complete mess right now as they are coming off a 42-17 drubbing at the hands of the Cardinals where they turned the ball over six times. If that trend continues, look for Cutler to capitalize on some short fields this week.

Tight End

Larry Donnell – New York Giants (45% owned)
@ Philadelphia Eagles

Donnell made a game-winning, highlight-reel catch in Week 5 and will look to build upon that momentum against the Eagles. Both Giants starting receivers, Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle, are struggling with hamstring issues. If one or both of them has to miss Week 6, look for Donnell to be utilized more prominently in the passing game.

Jacob Tamme – Atlanta Falcons (1% owned)
@ New Orleans Saints

The Saints have struggled to cover tight ends this season, coughing up the third most fantasy points per game to the position at 12.8. Tamme saw extra work in Week 5 because Julio Jones was laboring through a hamstring injury. In watching Atlanta’s Week 5 game, Jones spent some time on the sideline trying to keep his leg loose and it was clear he was playing at less than 100%. Jones will likely play again this Thursday, but it could be in a limited capacity again, opening the door for Tamme to see some extra targets.
