New NBA Report: Defense vs. Position

The NBA season is in full swing and with teams reaching 30 games played, we’re getting a sense of how the season may look. Here at FantasyPros, we’re constantly thinking about how we can enhance our tools and offerings. We started the season with a new Daily Fantasy Lineup Optimizer and now we’re adding more.

We’re excited to announce the release of our Defense vs. Position report which will help with your decision making when picking between a few players. If you’re looking for stat-driven analysis to compliment our positional rankings, here it is.

What’s it for?

As with most sports, every player will have their strengths and weaknesses. Basketball is no different in that certain players are better defenders. This new report breaks down those matchups to quickly identify whether your player is going up against a tough defense that tends to shut down guards, forwards or centers.

How do I use it?

The report can be used to quickly sort between various stats to see where a team struggles against when factoring in positions. Have a look at our color coding across all the stats to see how each team performs in the various categories.

The New Orleans Pelicans give up more points on average to PGs than any other team

Additionally, you grab stats within a specific time period by selecting the “Games” drop-down.

  • Sort by the filters below:
    • Season-to-Date
    • Last 7
    • Last 15
    • Last 30

Where can I find it?

You can access both versions of the tool (non-DFS and DFS) through our NBA page’s navigation bar. What’s the difference? If you’re playing on any of the DFS sites, we’ll give you the points that each team allows based on that site’s scoring configuration. Simply select which site you’re using and we’ll give you the breakdown. Since FG% and FT% plays a role in season-long leagues typically, you’ll see those additional categories when viewing the non-DFS version.

Tool & Reports (non-DFS version)

Hover over this section in our navigation bar up top and and you’ll find it listed on the right side under “Defense vs. Position”

More to come…

Stay tuned, we’re working on an Offfense vs. Defense report which will give further analysis as to how a team should matchup against their next opponent as a whole.
