Quarterbacks are the second-most valued position in dynasty leagues, right after wide receivers. The most valuable at the position typically offer stable production for 5 – 10 years, making them worthy of significant investment, especially in two-QB or superflex leagues. With that said, the following is a list of the top 15 quarterbacks to own in dynasty, as well as a brief explanation for each.

- Andrew Luck (IND)
Dynasty owners need to be careful not to let recency bias skew their perception of Luck, who up until last year proved he is without a doubt the top dynasty quarterback. Behind an improved offensive line, the 26-year-old superstar is just now entering his prime and should return to throwing for 4,500 yards and 30+ touchdowns on a yearly basis.
- Cam Newton (CAR)
Only four months older than Luck, Newton took a big step forward as a passer in 2015 while rediscovering his running legs on the way to 45 combined touchdowns. Making his performance last year even more impressive is he did it without his top wide receiver, Kelvin Benjamin. With a full arsenal of weapons at his disposal, Newton has a realistic chance to make last year’s numbers seem more like a trend than a fluke.
- Aaron Rodgers (GB)
Despite turning 32 at the end of last season, Rodgers is one of those elite players you can envision playing at an elite level way into his late 30s (a la Tom Brady). He has at least five more years of dominance left in the tank.
- Russell Wilson (SEA)
What Wilson did in the second half of last year is truly remarkable, combining for 24 touchdowns and just one interception in the last seven games of the season. That pace isn’t sustainable, but he has cemented himself as a top five dynasty quarterback given his age (26) and dual-threat ability.
- Jameis Winston (TB)
Winston’s rookie season can’t be considered anything other than a success after he threw for over 4,000 yards and failed to eclipse 200 passing yards in a game only twice all year. With a year under his belt and now reportedly in the best shape of his life, expect Winston to take another step forward in 2016 and cement himself as an elite option at the quarterback position.
- Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)
The oldest player in the top 10, Big Ben seems to age like a fine wine. Case in point: despite missing four games due to injury, Roethlisberger was still on pace to shatter his career record for passing yards in a season (328 ypg). Expect at least a handful of more elite seasons from the gritty veteran.
- Blake Bortles (JAX)
An argument could be made that Bortles has the best wide receiver tandem at his disposal with the Allen Brothers. Expect some touchdown regression this year after posting 35 in 2015, but Bortles should continue to find top 10 fantasy success in the years to come.
- Derek Carr (OAK)
Carr took a natural step forward in 2015, posting 700 more passing yards and nine more touchdowns than he did during his rookie season. He should continue to progress as a passer and should have no problem posting the occasional top-five season throughout the rest of his career.
- Marcus Mariota (TEN)
While not sharing quite the amount of rookie success as Winston, Mariota still proved that he has the tools to be a top 10 quarterback in the NFL. With the promise of using his legs more than he did last season, Mariota could become another one of those dual-threat quarterbacks that fantasy owners covet.
- Matt Ryan (ATL)
Many have soured on Ryan has anything other than an average quarterback, but you could do far worse than a soon-to-be 31-year-old quarterback who consistently posts 4,500+ yards and 25+ touchdowns each year. Also keep in mind that Ryan has only missed two games in his entire eight-year career.
- Philip Rivers (SD)
Rivers has quietly put up an impressive three year stretch since 2013, averaging 4,500 passing yards and 30 touchdowns a season. Even at the relatively old age of 34, Rivers still has enough juice left in the box to warrant strong dynasty consideration.
- Ryan Tannehill (MIA)
Many considered Tannehill’s 2015 season a disappointment, even though he set personal a best in passing yards. With quarterback guru Adam Gase running the team, Tannehill is a quality post-hype sleeper who has a chance at multiple top 10 finishes throughout the rest of his career. Remember, he will just be 28 years old come the start of the 2016 season.
- Tom Brady (NE)
Headed into his age-39 season, Brady clearly struck a deal with the devil in exchange for immortality. He has shown very little signs of wearing down, and as such can be expected to post at least one or two more seasons of top-five fantasy production. However, his age can no longer be ignored.
- Drew Brees (NO)
Brees has made a living off of proving that short quarterbacks can find success in the NFL. While his age is a concern, his weapons on offense have gotten better over the last few seasons.
- Matthew Stafford (DET)
Stafford has been a disappointment ever since throwing for 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns in his third season. With that said, he is still young enough and has enough talent to warrant a spot in the top 15, even having lost stud wide receiver Calvin Johnson to retirement.
