The Cubs Don’t Lose
This past week, the Chicago Cubs played a total of seven games against the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals, two of the toughest teams in the National League. The Cubs throttled the Pirates. The pitching staff surrendered a total of five runs while the offense averaged 6.7 runs per game.
This past weekend, the Nationals traveled to Wrigley Field to play four games against the Cubs. The Cubs won all four.
Manager Joe Maddon and the Cubs’ pitching staff took Bryce Harper out of the equation. Harper walked a total of 13 times, including six on Sunday afternoon. Ryan Zimmerman, who bats right after Harper, left 14 runners on base on Sunday, setting a new major league record.
The Cubs are, by far, the best team in Major League Baseball. They have the best ERA in baseball and have scored more runs than any other team. In fact, the Cubs are beating their opponents so badly that they rank 27th in MLB in saves.

Here Comes Tim Lincecum
“The Freak” is back. This past week, Lincecum threw 41 pitches in front of various MLB scouts to prove that he still belongs in someone’s starting rotation. The right-hander topped out at 91 mph.
Lincecum’s career has been remarkable. He won back-to-back NL Cy-Young Awards in 2008 and 2009 and had won three World Series championships with the San Francisco Giants.
Recently, Lincecum has battled a degenerative hip injury. In 2015, he started just 15 games, finishing with an ERA of 4.13. Early reports say some teams are interested in signing the 31-year-old, including the White Sox, Angels, Diamondbacks and Giants.
Anything is Possible
Bartolo Colon homered on Saturday night. Yes, you read that right.
Colon smashed a James Shields’ fastball 365 feet over the left field fence in Petco Park. It was the first home run of Colon’s career. The 42-year-old became the oldest player in MLB history to hit his first career home run, surpassing Randy Johnson.
