FanDuel MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (6/29)

Robinson Cano is far too good against righties to be this cheap

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the FanDuel lineup advice. This article will focus on the eight-game main slate on FanDuel. As of right now, there does not appear to be any weather situations that would negatively affect any of the games. This may change, so be sure to check out the weather forecast closer lineup lock. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my lineup for tonight.

Pitcher

Danny Salazar (CLE): $10,700 at ATL
It is a toss-up between Danny Salazar and Max Scherzer for the top arm on the slate and I am giving the slight nod to Salazar. Salazar has pitched great this season and he gets a boost pitching in a National League park with no DH. On top of that, the Braves have been awful this season with a 0.286 wOBA and a 76 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers this season.

Other Notables

Catcher

Brian McCann (OAK): $3,000 vs. TEX
Brian McCann has a juicy matchup against Nick Martinez who has allowed a 0.415 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. In addition to his inability to get left-handed hitters out, Martinez hardly strikes anyone out with a meager 3.46 K/9.
Other Notables

First Base

Joe Mauer (MIN): $3,200 at CHW
Joe Mauer is probably not going to light the world on fire with multiple home runs. However, he is an extremely safe cash game option with a 0.342 wOBA against right-handed pitchers. Also, James Shields has been a wreck since being traded to the White Sox. Shields has allowed 24 earned runs in 13.2 innings pitched and four starts for the Sox this season.

Other Notables

Second Base

Robinson Cano (SEA): $3,500 vs. PIT
Robinson Cano has been one of the best hitters in the league against right-handed pitchers during his career and tonight he has an excellent matchup against Jameson Taillon. I believe Taillon has potential to be something special for the Pirates, but he has struggled against left-handed hitters so far in his young MLB career, allowing a 0.358 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Other Notables

Third Base

Jhonny Peralta (STL): $2,500  vs. KC
This is a perfect matchup for Jhonny Peralta. Peralta tends to hit right-handed pitchers better and Edison Volquez actually does worse against right-handed hitters, compared to lefties. Volquez has allowed a 0.347 wOBA and a 3.3 BB/9 to right-handed hitters this season.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Tim Anderson (CHW): $2,500 vs. MIN
Tim Anderson has essentially been locked into my lineups for two weeks now, since he continues to hit in the leadoff spot and FanDuel refuses to increase his salary. Tonight he has a solid matchup against Ricky Nolasco, who has allowed a 0.330 wOBA to right-handed hitters since 2013.

Other Notables

Outfielders

Matt Holliday (STL): $3,400 vs. KC
I already mentioned how we can pick on Volquez and Matt Holliday is another Cardinals’ right-handed hitter who we can use against him. Similar to Jhonny Peralta, Holliday actually hits right-handed pitching better than left-handed pitching. Holliday currently has a 0.361 wOBA and a 0.227 ISO against righties this season.

Josh Reddick (OAK): $3,000 vs. SF
Josh Reddick returned from the DL last night and tonight he has a superb matchup against Jake Peavy. Peavy has allowed a 0.370 wOBA and a 3.71 BB/9 to left-handed hitters this season.

Angel Pagan (SF): $2,900 at OAK
Angel Pagan has been hitting in the middle of the order lately for the Giants and he has delivered with a 0.365 wOBA and a 0.167 ISO in June. Tonight he has a great matchup against the rookie, Sean Manaea, who has allowed a 0.376 wOBA and a 3.13 BB/9 to right-handed hitters this season.
