Adam Thielen’s big week helped a few experts in the standings

Walter Cherepinsky (Walter Football) led all experts in the final week of the expert accuracy competition while Sean Koerner (STATS) managed to hold onto his lead over the rest of the field with another top 20 performance. Bill Enright (FFChamps) made a late surge from 6th in the year-to-date accuracy standings all the way up to #3 by placing #2 in Week 16. Likewise, Jason Longfellow (Razzball) made a leap into the top 10 for the season with a top 5 finish in the final week. Congratulations to these experts on big performances. Now here are the final standings for the 2016 expert accuracy competition:

When Sean Koerner (STATS) joined the accuracy competition in 2013, he hit the ground running, finishing #10 out of 123 experts for the season. Remarkably, he followed that up by placing #2 out of 124 in 2014, then ranking #1 in 2015. If it wasn’t clear already, Sean finished #1 once again this season to cement himself atop the pedestal as the most accurate fantasy football expert in the world. Congratulations to Sean, once again, for a tremendous performance.

Sean moved into first place after Week 4 and never looked back thanks to impressive consistency. He finished in the top 45 of 135 experts every single week. During the first 10 weeks, Koerner placed in the top 15 an amazing 7 times, which gave him an insurmountable lead. Perhaps his most impressive accomplishment is that he finished in the top 4 for ranking quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. To put that in perspective, if you take the best rankings from the rest of the top 10 at each position, those nine experts together couldn’t accomplish that feat.

Jeff Ratcliffe (Pro Football Focus) also deserves special recognition for putting the pressure on Koerner at the end of the season. Like Sean, Jeff has been incredibly accurate each year he’s been in the competition. In 2011, Ratcliffe finished 6th, then he proceeded to place #13, #8, #7 and #5 in the successive years before ranking #2 this season. He spent 5 of 7 weeks during the middle of the season in the top 10 and 14 of 16 weeks among the top 40 experts. Congrats to Jeff on another strong season.

Three other experts have made a habit of constantly appearing in the top 15 by the end of the season, and wouldn’t you know it, they all made another appearance this season. Jake Ciely (Roto Experts) has been top five each of the past three seasons and finished #12 this year. Likewise, Justin Boone (theScore) has placed 8th, 11th, 3rd and 7th in his four seasons before grading out as the 7th most accurate expert here in 2016. Last, but certainly not least, there is John Paulsen (4for4.com), who has been a top five finisher five out of six seasons leading up to this year when he just barely missed out on another top five finish. These men are bona fide superstars at what they do.
