FanDuel Players to Fade: Week 3

FanDuel Players to Fade: Week 3

In this article, we will take a look at players who may be highly owned or overpriced and who you can feel comfortable fading. Let’s go ahead and take a look at some of the options to ignore for Week 3.

Quarterback

Drew Brees (NOS): $8,400 at CAR
Drew Brees had a very solid game in Week 2 at home against the Patriots with 356 passing yards and two touchdowns. Brees and the Saints will go back on the road again in Week 3 with a visit to the Panthers. It has become somewhat of a cliche in DFS, but Brees is not nearly as good on the road, compared to at home on turf. Brees is the fourth-most expensive quarterback this week and I just believe there are better options at a cheaper price point who you can feel safer using this week.

Running Back

Devonta Freeman (ATL): $8,200 at DET
Devonta Freeman has been solid so far in 2017 with three touchdowns through the first two weeks of the season. Of course, you aren’t worried about using him in season-long leagues this week, but when you factor in a salary cap I think there are more attractive options for you to use before deploying Freeman on the road against the Lions. One possible pivot could be Jay Ajayi who is the same exact price as Freeman but has a golden matchup against the Jets. The Jets are arguably the worst team in the NFL through the first two weeks of the 2017 season.

LeSean McCoy (BUF): $8,100 at DEN
I wrote up LeSean McCoy last week and he did in fact flop against the Panthers. I’m pretty optimistic that McCoy will be fine for the long term this season, but he does have another incredibly difficult matchup this week against the Broncos. The Broncos’ have a very talented group of linebackers who should be able to stuff the box against McCoy and the Bills, since they do not have a legitimate downfield threat for Tyrod Taylor to target.

Wide Receiver

Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG): $8,800 at PHI
Odell Beckham Jr. suited up after missing Week 1, but he did not look anywhere close to 100%. With the Giants quickly in a hole with an 0-2 start, I would think that they would continue to push Beckham to play even if it would be better for him to sit out another game. Also, since he is dealing with an ankle injury it is very possible this could be a lingering issue that still lasts a few more weeks. Until we receive confirmation that he appears to be healthier, I think we should continue to avoid him in DFS since he is still a top three priced wide receiver on FanDuel.

DeAndre Hopkins (HOU): $7,500 at NEP
This very well could be a common theme for me this season, but I’m a firm believer of fading the best offensive weapon of the team who is opposing the Patriots. Bill Belichick is great at forcing opposing teams to go to their secondary and tertiary options. If the Patriots do completely take Hopkins out of the equation this weekend, it should be smooth sailing for them since the Texans really do not have another dependable receiving option on the roster.

Tight End

Jimmy Graham (SEA): $6,400 at TEN
This could be the most obvious fade this week, but the Seahawks’ offensive line has been a real problem through the first two weeks. In turn, all of the receiving options for Seattle have struggled to put up decent numbers. When you also throw in that Graham is dealing with a knee and ankle injury, it makes it even easier to see why you are better off going a different direction this week.
