Q3. What is your general strategy tip for Round 10?
The closers in this tier of players are very tempting, particularly Giles and Rogers. I also love the upside of the Minnesota bats in Sano and Kepler. That offense is going to be very explosive. Mercado and Escobar are great multi-category guys who will help with power and speed. This is a very quality round.
– Jarad Evans (@Jarad_Evans)
Depending on team need, Lynn and Kepler are two of my favorite targets. Lamet is intriguing if I’ve already secured a pair of reliable aces. I don’t like waiting too long to pick my first closer, so I’m keeping tabs on these guys.
– Andrew Gould (@AndrewGould4)
This is a round for the specialist. If you are hurting in steals, you can grab Mercado here, and there is big time pop with guys like Kepler and Sano. There is also a potential breakout pitcher in Lamet. I would really focus on what your team is needing at this point, because there is a lot of big time category upside here.
– Jon Anderson (@JonPGH)
I like to pair rounds together — odd and even, in that order — and it’s one of the reasons why I would dip into the Round 10 pool during my Round 9 selection. However, this is also a function of availability. Many of the names in Round 10 carry tremendous risk, so the key is to pair risk with reward. There are enough players that can provide huge returns — David Dahl and Miguel Sano — but none are without their flaws. Draft with the expectation that none will reach their potential. Reap the rewards if they do.
– Mario Mergola (@MarioMergola)
I really start to deviate from ADP in this round. Like Jon said, this is when I’ll start targeting needs. I am probably grabbing my first closer from the back end of this group. If I think I can wait one more round, I’ll take a look at position scarcity with Escobar. Haven’t grabbed a shortstop yet? Polanco represents the last of the exciting ones. Got sniped at outfield? I’m scooping up Mercado, then Kepler.
– Carmen Maiorano (@carmsclubhouse)
Dinelson Lamet could legitimately compete for the NL Cy Young Award this season if the schedule is shorted to 100 or 120 games. He and several others in this round, however, are extremely risky so I won’t have many shares of anyone listed here with the exception of maybe Miguel Sano and Lamet. Rather, I’d “reach” for Jesus Luzardo, James Paxton or Danny Santana.
– Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro)
In a round filled with four closers, there’s just not a lot to love here. The Twins have committed to Miguel Sano and he has 50-homer power, so he’s hard to ignore here. I’m personally not buying Lamet, who needs another pitch to take that next step in my opinion. Overall, I’m rarely drafting any player in this range absent Sano, and prefer players going later.
