News & Notes

The most notable movement this week was the Twins with the return of Jhoan Duran, who made his season debut for Minnesota. He figures to step right back into his closer role.

Ryan Helsley, Clay Holmes, Kyle Finnegan and Robert Suarez are the lone closers with 10+ saves so far this season, which is likely a surprise to many based on expectations entering the season. Helsley has bounced back nicely.

Several teams weren’t expected to be very good, according to many heading into the season, who have had very reliable closers so far this season. It is still early, but that has been a nice development to this point.

The Phillies appear to be using Jose Alvarado against the middle of opponents’ lineups, which has led to some save chances for Jeff Hoffman and Gregory Soto.
