Monkey Knife Fight Advice: Week 9 (2020 Fantasy Football)

Welcome to Monkey Knife Fight. Monkey Knife Fight is one of the more intriguing entrants in the DFS arena. Instead of the traditional salary cap based contests, Monkey Knife Fight allows DFS players to put their fantasy football knowledge and predictive powers to the test.

They offer fantasy point and stat based contests. Perhaps the most appealing of all of their offerings is the ‘More or Less’ contests. In these contests, you can choose whether a player will fall above or below totals for a preset combination of two to 10 players. Your win probability obviously goes down with the more players you add, but you receive an increased payout multiplier in exchange.

Since Monkey Knife Fight’s fantasy point and stat-based totals are dynamic, meaning the total, total type, and pairings change throughout the week, it is important to search for favorable and advantageous total pairings to exploit on a daily basis. Ideally, when choosing a total pairing you want to feel extremely confident on one of the totals, and feel strongly enough about the other total to proceed. This week we will take a look at some of the ‘More’ options that stood out the most for Week 9. Note that these are not locked in pairings, and may no longer be offered by the time you log in to make your picks.

If you have yet to sign up for Monkey Knife Fight, be sure to take advantage of the $10 free play they are offering. Simply sign up through this link, and enter the promo code “GET10FREE”, and enjoy your first contest on your friends at FantasyPros and Monkey Knife Fight.

D.K. Metcalf (WR – SEA) over 77.5 receiving yards

After an offseason that included spending a month learning from and training with future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, sophomore receiver D.K. Metcalf has morphed into one of the NFL’s elite receivers. Wilson has succeeded once again in extracting more of Metcalf’s potential than many draft analysts thought possible prior to the 2019 NFL Draft. He has begun to correct his flaws and it may only be a matter of time before what many thought was his weakness, an ability to competently run a whole route tree, becomes one of his strengths.

D.K. Metcalf has been spectacular this season. Blessed with great speed and outstanding size, an improving Metcalf is becoming a tougher cover each and every week. We love him here in this column, as he has hit the ‘More’ in all but one of his contests this season. DeKaylin (aka D.K.) is already up to 680 receiving yards for the year (fourth in the league), a number that averages out to a truly elite 97.2 receiving yards per game. His pace? His extrapolated numbers would put him at 1,552 receiving yards for the year. Metcalf has been dominant in other categories as well, as he ranks first with seven receiving touchdowns, and second with 19.2 yards per reception.

The 77.5 receiving yard number is all about the trepidation MKF players may feel with Metcalf set to take on one of the best corners in the league in Tre’Davious White. White has been excellent this season, but a mere glance at his surface stats may have you thinking otherwise. He has been hurt this year and is allowing a career-high 55 percent catch rate. That number kind of reminds me of Aaron Rodgers proclaiming that a down year for him is a career year for other players at his position.

The same could be said here. Digging deeper into his numbers at SIS, White is actually at career-best numbers in deserved catch rate (73.3 percent). However, he has surrendered the most yards per target (7.0) since his rookie season and has already given up two touchdowns in just seven games. He has never surrendered more than three touchdowns in coverage in his whole career. He has been targeted in coverage just 20 times this season and is set to post a career-low in that category unless he splits time against Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in single coverage (he could see double-digit targets against in that scenario).

Metcalf towers and hulks over the 5’11, 192 lbs cornerback and will be targeted, perhaps heavily, regardless of whether or not White is on him. While he is still far from a finished product. It is obvious that Wilson loves playing with a talent like Metcalf, and is building supreme confidence in the sophomore receiver who has the names of every receiver drafted before him posted in his locker. A man among men, Metcalf is a tremendous value at MKF this week. This may be the last time we ever see Metcalf listed below 80 receiving yards this season, and perhaps for his career. Take advantage and click the ‘More’ for Metcalf at MonkeyKnifeFight.

Pick: More

Cole Beasley (WR – BUF) over 50.5 receiving yards

This is a surprising number for a player like Cole Beasley when he is taking on the most generous pass defense in the league. Josh Allen‘s security blanket, Beasley is averaging 61.8 receiving yards per game and has hit 51 or more yards in five of his eight contests this season. Beasley has been a reliable weapon for the Buffalo Bills this year as he has 70 receiving yards and/or a touchdown in five of his eight contests this season.

He is in the midst of a career season with an 80.4 percent catch rate, 12 yards per reception, and 9.7 yards per target. While teams playing ahead on most nights like the Seahawks do, tend to see the passing yards against spike, Beasley shows no signs of slowing down and should be able to hit 51 receiving yards rather easily.

There is of course a scenario where Shaq Griffin suddenly turns it on and inexplicably decides to shadow Beasley. The Bills could, however unlikely, maintain a lead all game and see their pass attempts limited. Finally, Beasley could have an inefficient outing, and fail to haul in 40 to 60 percent of the passes. Not buying those possibilities? Me either.

The value here is so good that it is almost a certainty that MonkeyKnifeFight adjusts or removes the line by kickoff. This is one of the top ‘More or Less’ options for Week 9. It would be a surprise if Beasley did not record more than 51 receiving yards. Click ‘More’ on Beasley versus the Seahawks, and make sure to do so as soon as possible.
