Two-Start Pitcher Lookahead: Week 12 (2021 Fantasy Baseball)

Two-Start Pitcher Lookahead: Week 12 (2021 Fantasy Baseball)

Every week, the bidding for two-start pitchers is fast and furious. Fantasy managers craving those extra starts, particularly in points leagues, are willing to spend significant FAAB to add even the diciest hurler who will take the mound twice between Monday and Sunday.

If you have the room, adding a two-start pitcher a week before his two-start week can not only save you time, effort, and FAAB dollars, but it can give you a significant edge on your competition. So, in this article each week, I’ll provide a list of the widely available (rostered in fewer than 70% of leagues) two-start options for two weeks down the road, ranking them in terms of likely value during that week.

The two-start options aren't all that attractive in Week 12, either because of matchups, quality of the pitching, or both. But there are a few intriguing names if you find yourself in need of some additional innings.

Cole Irvin isn't going to blow anyone away, but he'll rarely hurt you, especially with a matchup against the Rangers. Eduardo Rodriguez has pitched far better than his numbers, Ross Stripling and Mike Minor have given quality innings of late and have plus-matchups, and Johan Oviedo gets two of the weakest hitting teams in the majors.

Ryan Yarbrough and Tarik Skubal are fine long-term options, but their two-start weeks aren't overly enticing. Feel free to pick them up and roll the dice for now if your ERA and WHIP are safe.
