The injury to J.K. Dobbins left fantasy football drafters scrambling over the weekend. The worst possible outcome, a season-ending injury, was revealed. Our analysts provided the fantasy football impact of the injury and how it impacts the Baltimore Ravens’ backfield (article|podcast).
Our analysts believe former Dobbins’ backup, Gus Edwards, is now a solid RB2. For those yet to draft, he’s settling in around the RB20 mark (RB24 in our current Expert Consensus Rankings for half-PPR formats).

Kyle Yates provides his take on Gus Edwards, the newest RB2 in fantasy football:
With the reported news that J.K. Dobbins is out for the entirety of the season, Edwards skyrockets up draft boards. He’s a very talented runner that’s ultra-efficient in this scheme. While Justice Hill and Ty’Son Williams will also see some work, Edwards is going to be the guy. It wouldn’t shock me to see the Ravens bring in another body after the final round of cuts before the start of the season, but this is Edwards’ backfield now. He can be drafted as a mid-range RB2 this year that should bring great production on the ground, but not much involvement as a receiver out of the backfield.
Given his lack of receiving production, Edwards is a better target in Standard leagues (ECR RB21) than PPR formats (ECR RB25). Regardless, he is someone to target as your RB2 in your upcoming drafts or top waiver wire priority if your league has already drafted.
And if Edwards is already drafted or added by another team in your league, here are other players that could be available you can target as replacement options for Dobbins.
