Week 17 Mid-Range Passers with QB1 Upside

Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR)ECR QB5

Stafford has gone from a possible MVP candidate to somewhat difficult to trust. Three interceptions last week against the Vikings will do that to you. And while Stafford has been good in his first season with the Rams, his warts from his Lions days tend to still show up against good teams. The Ravens should get Jimmy Smith and Tavon Young back in its secondary, but this is still a banged up unit that struggled to contain opposing passing games when both were in the lineup. You likely don’t have a better choice out there, and the matchup is ripe for the picking.

Joe Burrow (QB – CIN): ECR QB10

What does Joe Burrow have in store for an encore after his massive performance last week? I’m interested to find out against a Chiefs defense that’s surged against some lackluster competition. K.C. is still surrendering 18.2 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Russell Wilson (QB – SEA): ECR QB11

Speaking of quarterbacks who are tough to trust, Wilson might be checked-out and ready to move on from the Seahawks. But he could put up some solid numbers against a Lions secondary that’s given up 24 touchdown passes this season.

Mac Jones (QB – NE): QB19 ECR

This is truly a boom or bust play, as I suspect New England will jump out to an early lead against Jacksonville and pack things in. I’m betting on Jones putting up production early in case this game becomes a blowout quickly. However, there’s also the chance New England uses this game to get Jones valuable reps as they gear up for a playoff run.

Davis Mills (QB – HOU): ECR QB21

How about another rookie? Mills has actually been a pretty productive passer since getting the starting job back. Dare I say, Mills has actually played well and has grown a lot in his rookie season. The growth could continue against a 49ers secondary that’s giving up nearly 18 fantasy points per game to opposing passers. Mills could produce for you here.

Trey Lance (QB – SF): ECR QB13

Lance is a total unknown. In fact, we don’t even know for sure if he’s going to start against Houston this weekend. However, we do know Lance is an athletic passer who Kyle Shanahan will surely design some running plays for. Lance is an enormous risk with your fantasy title on the line, but his rushing ability gives him a bit more floor than you’d expect.
