Dynasty IDP Rookie Prospect Profile
Jordan Davis has been perhaps the biggest roller-coaster player of this draft in terms of his perceived value. He took some criticism after evaluators saw that he is most likely a two-down player and that his conditioning could use some work. When Davis showed up at the combine down about 20 pounds and ran a 4.78 40-yard dash at 341 pounds, he was the biggest winner coming out of the event. Davis is an absolute freak of an athlete, and the highlight reels of this man-mountain chasing down QBs and players half his size are incredible.
The reality is that Davis will be a run stuffer for the most part, and his best physical asset is being big enough to take up two blockers on every single play. Also, Davis is so athletic that he can play inside as expected or as a defensive end. Moving him to a defensive end might limit his greatest asset, but with all the different fronts every NFL team plays now, he could get a pass-rushing role on occasion. If Davis gets serious about his conditioning, he could be a Defensive Player of the Year type, but he probably won't ever produce eye-popping numbers for IDP purposes.
