Will Michael Thomas Play in Week 8? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Michael Thomas started the 2022 season with a bang, finishing Week 1 as WR8 and Week 2 as WR18. Since then, however, it has been one long stretch of questionable designations and sitting out games. He has yet again been ruled out for the Saints’ game against Las Vegas in Week 8, and fantasy managers still rostering the 29-year-old are wondering if they should continue to hold or free up a WR slot. Here’s the latest information we have.

Michael Thomas set to miss Week 8

The New Orleans Saints’ head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that WR Michael Thomas will be out for the Week 8 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders

Fantasy Impact

Thomas will miss his fifth game in a row with a foot injury that has kept him sidelined. Neither he nor WR Jarvis Landry logged any practices to open the week. Rookie WR Chris Olave will continue to be the main receiving threat in New Orleans while QB Andy Dalton remains the team’s starter.

What the Experts are Saying

Looks like the Saints are playing it conservatively, which isn’t surprising given the extensive injury history. The upper range for turf toe injuries is generally 6 weeks, and MT is now at 5. Anticipate return to the field ~Week 10 assuming no setbacks. The performance impact would be projected to linger ~2-3 weeks after the return timeline.
