NFL Draft Burning Questions (Fantasy Football 2023)
Let’s take a look at our most burning questions for this week’s 2023 NFL Draft.
Who is the Top Quarterback in the Draft?
It’s been a carousel of who the top pick is, and it has changed during this draft process. After the Combine, the stock of Anthony Richardson soared to where many believed he should be taken No. 1.
Then we saw the love C.J. Stroud was getting and he became the favorite. Now it’s all Bryce Young as Vegas has heavily pushed him as the odds favorite.
The Panthers said they have told no one whom they are picking, so insiders are just going by rumors.
How Many Quarterbacks Go in the Top 10?
We’ve also seen this collection of top quarterbacks go in various spots, so we wonder if a quarterback goes in the first four picks.
Are teams ready to trade up for one of these prospects, wait to see if they fall, or even pick a quarterback later in the draft?
How Far Will Jalen Carter Fall?
Carter was a top priority early in the pre-draft season, but even with the legal issues he’s dealt with, when he came to his pro day out of shape, it made teams skeptical about his dedication.
We know the talent is there and he is a beast on the line, so will teams want to take the risk early in the draft for what could be a huge reward?
Who’s Getting Bijan Robinson?
We haven’t seen a running back prospect fawn over like this in a long time. It could certainly have to do with the diminishing value of the position.
A workhorse running back is becoming vintage, and thus the importance of taking one early in the draft is not a priority.
We know Robinson is unique, and that’s why draft analyses have projected him going in the top 10 as well as low in the 20s. It will be about which team believes Bijan has value.
Is Hendon Hooker a First Round Pick?
Young, Stroud, Levis, and Richardson are all projected first-rounders, but Hooker is starting to get Day 1 buzz. He burst onto the scene in 2021 when he took over midway through the season and, in 2022, led Tennessee as one of the highest-scoring offenses in the country.
The late-season ACL tear will likely have him missing most of the camp, so he will have a late start to his season.
The fact that he’s 25 years old isn’t a significant concern for some. The most important matter is why was he not an every-game starter at Virginia Tech and why did it take an injury for him to be a starter for Tennessee?
Wide Receiver Rankings?
We’ve been lucky the last two years to have some talented wide receivers in the draft. We will likely have four or more taken in the first round. The order they go in is what we don’t know.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been touted as the top prospect at the position, but some are skeptical about him being strictly a slot receiver.
Then you have Jordan Addison, who has shown over the last two seasons with two different programs how great he is. Although during the pre-draft process, there are concerns about whether his lack of size is suited for the next level. This has been a hot topic after his poor scoring at the combine.
Quentin Johnston was an early WR1 favorite, but many have fallen out of love with him because while he has speed and size, they don’t believe in his route running.
The darling of the draft continues to be Zay Flowers, and many have him in the top half of Day 1, but he’s another smaller guy.
