Fantasy baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. Unlike other fantasy sports, the season is long and drags as the weeks roll on. However, because it is such a grind, fantasy managers can lose focus on what is important and what is not which allows astute fantasy managers to take advantage.
When we are getting to the halfway point to the season, we are really beginning to see the trends and who might be underrated and overrated. However, hot streaks and cold streaks can scare your competition and sometimes underlying numbers aren’t showing up on the surface numbers quite yet. If someone in your league is ready to overreact, then take advantage of their impatience. Here are some players that I would try and buy low and sell high on at this point in the season.

Fantasy Baseball Trade Advice
Here are some players to buy and sell this week in fantasy baseball.
Players to Buy Low
Whitlock has thrown 46 innings this year with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with 39 strikeouts, so why would I want to buy low on him? Well, he has been much better since returning to the Red Sox, throwing 30 innings with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, but more importantly, his slider has been elite and he has shown flashes of turning into an ace. I have said it a few times, I think he will win people’s fantasy leagues by the end of the season. Buy before it is too late.
Torres is hitting .246/.322/.419 with 12 home runs and six stolen bases this season. However, he has been getting unlucky on balls in play and has a .271 xERA. While he has struggled this month, he is making good contact in the zone and is still hitting the ball hard. I think this is the perfect time to get him at a discount when others are looking to jump off.
Tellez has been mired in a tremendous slump over the last month, hitting .145/.184/.193 with no home runs. However, when he does make contact, he it is very hard and he is actually making above average zone contact. He is getting unlucky on balls in play and not pulling enough. He will correct those issues and be fine as long as the Brewers don’t give up on him. You shouldn’t either.
Players to Sell High
Eovaldi has been fantastic this season, throwing 105.1 innings of a 2.82 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP with 101 strikeouts. However, the issue with Eovaldi over the years has been an inability to stay healthy. While he has done that so far, there are warning signs that something might be wrong. All of a sudden his average fastball velocity dropped from 96 mph to 94 mph, and there isn’t as much movement on it.
I am worried that things are about to fall apart for Eovaldi. I would move him before he ends up hurt again, especially if he experiences more reduced velocity.
There is nothing wrong with Phillips per se, this is more about the Dodgers bullpen as a whole. Phillips has been great this season, but the rest of the Dodgers bullpen has struggled. As the halfway point in the season approaches, the Dodgers are likely to be on the lookout for improvements in the bullpen. A shutdown closer should be on their list of wants and needs.
That would allow them to continue to use Phillips in high-leverage situations as they prefer and take some of the heat off of their rotation members. Not only that, Daniel Hudson is finally working his way back and could just take the ninth inning away from Phillips once he is ready.
McMahon has been on fire recently, hitting .294/.375/.518 with four home runs over the month of June. However, in that time he is getting extremely lucky on balls in play with a .404 BABIP and he is striking out over 30% of the time. He is making awful zone contact and while he is hitting the ball hard when he is making contact, that won’t matter much when the underlying skills catch up to him.
