Fitz’s Top Draft Targets

Dotson had only 35 catches for 523 yards as a rookie, but he scored seven touchdowns despite playing just 12 games, and he had five weeks in which he was a top-20 fantasy scorer at the WR position. Dotson has 4.43 speed, is terrific in contested-catch situations despite being 5-foot-11 and 181 pounds, and is elusive after the catch. If your competitors fade Dotson because of Washington’s uncertain QB situation, capitalize on the opportunity to get an exciting young receiver at a discount.

Kadarius Toney (KC)

Toney’s injury history is troublesome to say the least. He’s missed 15 games the last two years, and he’s in danger of missing Week 1 after having cleanup surgery on his knee in late July. But here’s the Kadarius Toney stat that makes me want to draft him in all of my leagues: In his two NFL seasons, he’s drawn 77 targets on 445 regular-season snaps, which means he’s earned a target on 17.3% on all the snaps he’s played, including running plays. The NFL’s 2022 target leader, Justin Jefferson, earned a target on 17.1% of his snaps last year.

Toney has eye-popping speed and agility, and if he can somehow stay healthy in an offense with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback and Andy Reid designing the plays, we could get a breakout season out of Toney in Year 3. With the knee surgery torpedoing Toney’s ADP, the opportunity cost to taking a chance on a mega-talented player has been greatly reduced.
