Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Joe Ross, Luke Raley, Luis Matos

The best players in the world play on NFBC, and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1750 buy-in with a $7000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups on Sunday night.

Each week, I will be looking at the most popular FAAB fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should get them for our own leagues.  I am not going to lie, this was a pretty boring week of FAAB fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups

Joe Ross (P – MIL)

Ross has been up and down this season, but he was picked up in 39 leagues this week because of a two-start week. Unfortunately for Ross, he was hurt in his first start of the two-step and is likely heading to the IL.

Luke Raley (OF – SEA)

Raley was picked up in 39 leagues with a max bid of $57 and a minimum of $9. Raley has been on fire this month hitting .386/.438/.659 with three home runs and two stolen bases. He is going to continue to be on the strong side of the platoon but if he continues to mash like this, he should be rostered everywhere.

Luis Matos (OF – SF)

Matos was picked up in 35 leagues with a max bid of $233 and a minimum bid of $37. Matos has become the everyday centerfielder for the Giants, with Jung Hoo Lee being out for the season. Matos had a massive stretch over the weekend, hitting a home run and knocking in 11 RBIs in two games. Matos has speed and good contact skills but doesn’t hit high up in the lineup because of his aggressive approach. With the Giants not running much at all this season, Matos’ upside is a bit limited, but he will play every day and can accumulate.
