SP - WSH
Expert NoteView More Notes
Joe Ross is getting loads of hype thanks to an impressive 3.52 cumulative ERA as a 22 and 23 year old, but the ERA wasn't driven by dominating metrics. Rather, his deeper stats were mediocre, which signals for ERA regression in 2017.

Joe Ross effective but not sharp in DL return
Joe Ross dropped to 5-7 - mostly due to lack of run support - after allowing one earned run over three innings in his return from the DL on Sunday. Ross racked up five strikeouts but allowed six hits in a short outing.
Before the game it was known that Ross would only throw three innings or so, but in that time he needed 51 pitches. He was excellent prior to his DL stint and could be a sneaky spot starter in your playoffs series Sunday versus the Pirates.
