2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Tre Harris III

Tre Harris III (WR – Mississippi)

6-foot-3 | 210 Pounds

Background

Tre Haris is a Louisiana native who played quarterback in high school and committed to Louisiana Tech as a two-star recruit, spending the first three seasons of his career there. He played sparingly as a freshman, then started nine out of 12 games the following year, with a 40-572-4 (14.3) line.

Harris followed that up with 65-935-10 (14.4) before transferring to Mississippi. He had a 54-985-8 (18.2) line in 2023, then a 60-1,030-7 (17.2) line with the Rebels to conclude his collegiate career.

Positives

A productive four-year starter who successfully made the leap to the SEC over the past two seasons, establishing himself as a high-volume option for the Rebels. Very well-built, big-framed split end who has impressive build-up speed to threaten defenses downfield as an effective deep threat, but who also works plenty of shorter routes (mostly hitches, curls, shallows, slants, ins) based on the threat he presents.

Harris has clean footwork and good balance to release at the line against press coverage. Does a nice job of flattening out his routes underneath to wall off opponents and prevent them from getting in phase. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder when working downfield. Shows strong hands to pluck the ball out of the air, with a wide radius and good body control to adjust to off-target throws.

His massive frame allows him to box out opponents in contested-catch situations, also showing impressive aggressiveness at the catch point; career 48.4% on contested catches (45/93), per Pro Football Focus (PFF). Seems to make at least one or two impressive leaping adjustments and grabs per game. Very effective near the goal line, running fades on the back side of the formation and making some impressive grabs in tight coverage.

Has a knack for the one-handed catch. Physical player after the catch, with a no-nonsense approach, good competitiveness and the power to gain yards after contact. A highly effective blocker due to his size, physicality and functional strength.

Negatives

Harris is slightly older than your typical receiver prospect after spending five years in school. Durability is a concern; ended up getting a minor knee surgery early in the 2023 season, then missed time this year after spraining his ankle, which occurred in the Rebels’ seventh game of the season and kept him out until the season finale.

Tends to line up on the left side of the line for most snaps. It’d be nice to see more of his technique from the other side. Not the most flexible player, with more of a sturdy build. Could be forced to make a lot of contested catches if teams can defend him with a corner fast enough to run with him downfield from press. Can sometimes be brought down a bit easier than expected; you’d like to see him run through a few more shoelace tackles than he does.

Summary

A massive, physical split end fast enough to function as a deep threat, taking advantage of the resulting softer cushions to work underneath the coverage. Harris is an excellent jump-ball receiver who combines aggressiveness, body control and leaping ability at the catch point.

Managed to surpass a thousand yards this past year despite missing virtually everything after the seventh week of the season, functioning as a go-to No. 1 receiver before going down with a sprained ankle. Assuming his medicals check out, Harris looks like he has a chance to come off the board in the first round, with a game reminiscent of recent first-rounder Xavier Legette.

More 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Reports for Wide Receivers

Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona)

A very big, smooth, savvy receiver with an incredible catch radius and a graceful game, McMillan established himself as one of the best wide receivers in college football over the past two seasons. May never be the fastest or most explosive wide receiver, but has a great understanding of how to use tempo, nuance and technique to create separation.

Is capable of coming down with contested catches even in tight coverage, with rare size that makes him a mismatch for most cornerbacks. May not have quite the same strength and physicality as Mike Evans did coming out, but is a similar prospect and should go similarly high in the first round, likely within the first five or 10 picks.

Projection: Round 1

Luther Burden III (Missouri)

A dynamic player with the ball in his hands, Burden’s combination of speed, quickness, vision, balance and physicality led the Tigers to scheme up ways to get him the ball, whether on underneath throws, sweeps, screens or otherwise. He also offers some impressive traits as a receiver, with good stop-start quickness to create separation, impressive tracking and body control and a strong pair of hands.

As it currently stands, he doesn’t have a ton of recent experience playing outside and will need to continue diversifying his route tree and polishing his route-running technique, but that doesn’t look like it will stop him from being a first-round pick.

Projection: Round 1

Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State)

Another highly-polished Buckeyes receiver prospect, Egbuka’s excellent combination of acceleration, quickness, route-running savvy, hands and toughness should make him a highly reliable pro receiver.

Likely would have been a first-round pick last year had he stayed healthy. Coming back to put together the season he did gives him a very good chance of going there this year if everything checks out medically during the pre-draft process. A nice reliable, pro-ready big slot option.

Projection: Round 1
