2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum (OT – West Virginia)
6-foot-6 | 317 Pounds
Background
A four-star recruit who also played baseball in high school. Wyatt Milum Started eight out of 12 games played at right tackle as a true freshman back in 2021 — three sacks allowed, per Pro Football Focus — and all 12 games at left tackle the following year. Has reprised the left tackle role in each of the past two seasons with zero sacks allowed.
Positives
Highly effective four-year starter with experience at both tackle spots in West Virginia’s balanced offense. Height and weight are in line with what pro teams look for at the tackle spot. Plays the game with toughness and consistent effort. Pretty good athlete who is capable of playing in space or chipping and climbing to the second level. Had some difficult responsibilities with the Mountaineers and demonstrated solid range and versatility on early downs.
Milum understands positioning and does a good job of walling off opponents in the run game. Functional strength is at least adequate. Keeps his feet churning after contact to generate movement when he lines up smaller defenders. Keeps his head on a swivel to recognize and pick up delayed rushers. Drops an early anchor in pass protection and looks pretty comfortable handling power. Active with his hands and does a good job of resetting. Stays light on his feet to stick with opponents through second moves. Avoids oversetting and leaving the inside open.
Negatives
Balance and body control have been issues. Tended to fall off of blocks when he got caught playing outside of his frame. Was asked to handle some difficult assignments and ended up being a bit of a lunger and leaner, especially when combined with his height and relatively aggressive style of play.
Milum’s arm length could be shorter than usual for a player of his size. Doesn’t have the strongest grip strength. Sticks with defenders through persistence and range more. Has a bit of a hunched stance in pass protection.
Summary
One of the most experienced prospects in the class, Milum has shown himself to be a consistent pass protector and versatile, rangy run blocker throughout his career, with a physical and aggressive style of play and a good understanding of positioning. From a technical standpoint, there are still a few things he has to work on.
Whether because of his aggression, a possible lack of ideal length or some combination of the two, balance and discipline can sometimes be issues as he works to reach defenders in space. Doesn’t always make it look pretty, but Milum has been able to get the job done. Has a lot of the traits teams look for in a tackle. Will probably go within the first two rounds.
Projection: Round 2
