Justin Fields more likely to be retained by Steelers than Russell Wilson
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Steelers are “likely” to keep Justin Fields over Russell Wilson this offseason.
Fantasy Impact
The Steelers had said they were hoping to bring back one of Fields or Wilson in free agency. Fields is likely to garner more interest, which could make it a bit tougher to re-sign him. This remans a situation heading into free agency.

Allen Lazard allowed to explore trade options
The Jets have given WR Allen Lazard permission to seek a trade, per team sources. Signed in 2023 as part of the Aaron Rodgers package, Lazard has two years left on his contract but managed just 37 catches across 12 games in 2024. The 29-year-old’s stock has faded since his career-high 2022 season in Green Bay, and his next move could hinge on Rodgers’ plans-potentially reuniting with the QB if Rodgers lands elsewhere. For now, Lazard’s camp is gauging interest from other teams ahead of the offseason.
Fantasy Impact
Lazard’s 2024 output-37 grabs in 12 games-left fantasy managers cold, a far cry from his 2022 peak. His Jets tenure flopped, and a trade might not revive his value unless he follows Rodgers to a pass-heavy system. At 29, he’s a depth piece at best, not a lineup lock-think WR4 or waiver fodder in standard leagues. Dynasty owners can hold if Rodgers pulls strings, but don’t bank on a big role wherever he lands. Watch free agency for his next stop.

Tee Higgins officially receiving franchise tag for 2025
The Cincinnati Bengals are formally placing the franchise tag on WR Tee Higgins, keeping him on a one-year, fully guaranteed deal for 2025 as they look to reach a long-term extension.
Fantasy Impact
During the 2024 offseason, Higgins requested a trade from the team – now, he is set to play on the franchise tag for a second consecutive season as the two sides continue to pursue a long-term deal. While his future in Cincinnati is difficult to predict, this heavily impacts the free agency market as he was expected to be the top earner at the position. He finished last season with 911 yards and 10 TDS in just 12 games, showing the impact he can have when healthy. This only further boosts all offensive players in Cincinnati in fantasy football as the environment remains potent (No. 6 scoring offense in 2024).
