For the casual football fan, Day 3 of the NFL Draft might not be too exciting. However, fantasy football enthusiasts eagerly awaited the landing spots of several running backs and wide receivers.
While late-round draft capital would suggest these players may not be immediate contributors, they are nevertheless important depth pieces to keep track of. The relentless NFL schedule brings its fair share of injuries and unexpected scenarios. As a result, a number of these late-round selections may become very relevant at any point.

NFL Draft Day 3 Winners & Losers
Isiah Pacheco was a seventh-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. For many, this transaction was a mere afterthought. It was largely expected that Clyde Edwards-Helaire would resume his role as the Chiefs’ starting running back. Nagging injuries and continued inefficiencies forced the Chiefs’ hand in promoting Pacheco as the team’s new starter. He went on to deliver as a fantasy football mainstay for the next two seasons or so.
For every success story like Pacheco’s, there are countless examples of players who, unfortunately, never see consistent playing time in the NFL. Landing spot plays an immense role in projecting career arcs. As always, fantasy managers should hope players land in enticing offensive ecosystems with a potential void of volume.
In what follows, I’ll highlight the winners and losers from the final day of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Winner: Cam Skattebo (RB – NYG)
Cam Skattebo became a fan favourite after he delivered an incredible 222 all-purpose yards against the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff (CFP). Throughout his career at Arizona State, Skattebo proved to be one of the most feared between-the-tackles runners in the country. While he may not possess the elite athleticism other prospects boast, his hard-nosed running style is certainly an asset NFL teams covet. It was simply a manner of his landing into a depth chart that would allow him to play a key role from the start of his career.
With the Giants’ selection of Skattebo in the fourth round, he finds himself in a very advantageous position. The team’s current depth chart consists primarily of Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Singletary set career lows in rush grade, yards after contact per attempt and missed tackles forced in 2024. It’s safe to assume the veteran’s best days are behind him.
While Tracy enjoyed a successful rookie season with the Giants, he simply doesn’t profile as a running back who can handle a workhorse role in Brian Daboll’s system. The 210-pound former wide receiver convert has struggled with ball security issues early in his career, amassing an alarming four fumbles in 2024. Skattebo is in a prime position to earn a meaningful role in the Giants’ offense from day one.
Skattebo’s final collegiate season was nothing short of spectacular. Among FBS backs with at least 150 carries, he ranked second in rush grade, third in missed tackles forced and 10th in elusive rating, per PFF. He will bring some much-needed explosiveness to this offense that is bereft of weapons outside of Malik Nabers.
Daboll has always been a proponent of slow-paced, run-centric offensive football. The Giants’ defense continues to make strides after adding superstar prospect Abdul Carter through the draft. I expect this team to run the ball at an above-average clip. As a result, Skattebo will see a great deal of volume. He will be a highly productive player for fantasy football managers.
Winner: Elic Ayomanor (WR – TEN)
The Titans continued to build their young offensive core by selecting Stanford wide receiver Elic Ayomanor in round four of the draft. Ayomanor is the prototypical perimeter wideout who uses his impressive catch radius to generate explosive plays through the air.
As part of the same draft class, he and new franchise quarterback Cam Ward will be able to develop a strong rapport from the start of their careers. This landing spot is particularly enticing for Ayomanor, who, outside of veteran Calvin Ridley, will have very minimal competition for targets in Brian Callahan’s system.
The current Titans wide receiver depth chart consists primarily of Tyler Lockett, Treylon Burks and the aforementioned Ridley. For one, the team invested a modest $4 million for one year on Tyler Lockett earlier this offseason. While Lockett has enjoyed an extremely productive and consistent career, the advanced metrics show the veteran’s best days are clearly behind him.
Per PFF, Lockett set career lows in both yards per route run and yards after catch per reception in 2024. On the other hand, Burks hasn’t capitalized on the potential that made him a first-round draft selection in 2022. He’s yet to surpass 450 receiving yards in any of his three professional seasons.
Ayomanor’s analytical profile suggests he can usurp these receivers to earn steady volume in this system. He performed very well at the NFL Scouting Combine, posting a 4.44 40-yard dash and a 38.5-inch vertical jump.
From a production standpoint, he compiled a minimum of 63 receptions and six receiving touchdowns in two consecutive seasons at Stanford. Ayomanor’s career averages of 2.12 yards per route run and 14.7 yards per reception shed light on his efficiency as a pass-catcher.

Coming from the Cincinnati Bengals’ pass-heavy offensive regime, Callahan will look to implement similar ideals in Tennessee. Ward will be asked to throw downfield frequently in his rookie season. Expect a significant portion of these deep targets to be headed Ayomanor’s way.
Loser Bhayshul Tuten (RB – JAX)
Following a stellar combine performance, Bhayshul Tuten was highly speculated in fantasy football circles. His somewhat underwhelming collegiate production was overcome by incredible combine statistics. He ran a 4.32 40-yard dash and posted a 40.5-inch vertical jump. Tuten was suddenly on many radars as someone who could potentially flourish in a system that utilizes his raw athleticism properly.
His landing spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars certainly casts some doubt on Tuten’s fantasy viability. The Jaguars have operated with a running back-by-committee, spearheaded by Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby. Bigsby enjoyed a breakout season in 2024. He set career highs in attempts, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. His 3.74 yards after contact per attempt and 46 missed tackles forced were particularly noteworthy.
Etienne has been a mainstay in the Jaguars’ offense since the team selected him in the first round of the 2021 draft. Etienne struggled mightily in 2024, averaging 3.7 yards per carry and earning an elusive rating of 35.4. per PFF. However, given his rapport with franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence, I expect the veteran back to retain a role in the Jaguars’ offense. As of now, it appears as though an injury would be required for Tuten to see consistent playing time.
According to PFF, Tuten ranked 63rd in rush grade and 20th in rushing yards among FBS backs with at least 100 carries in 2024. His four fumbles during his final collegiate season were also a concern. Tuten will need to see a drastic uptick in efficiency to compete with Bigsby and Etienne for looks in this backfield.
