Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report

I won’t be hitting every prospect every week, but will focus on the most relevant throughout the week and will follow up on other notable players post my Top 150 rankings.  This article will not focus on any AAAA type players or veterans in the minors who have outlived their prospect status.

Full Top 150 Prospect Rankings:

Note: Rookie status is determined by 130 ABs, or 50 IPs at the Major League level. All stats as of mid-Saturday, 5/3/2025.

MLB Hitters:

  1. C/1B Agustin Ramirez (Marlins)

2024 AA/AAA:  .267/.358/.487 | 11.1 BB%, 18.6 K% | 53 XBH, 25 HR, 22 SB

2025 MLB: .286/.324/.686 | 5.4 BB% / 18.9 K% | 8 XBH, 3 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  3/21 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Early 2025

fScores: 91 fContact, 103 fDiscipline, 93 fPower, 130 fSpeed

Comp:  Gary Sanchez with speed

Prime Skills:  Big time power swing with some sneaky speed, but a questionable hit tool.  He’s posted EVs up to 111 in Miami with increased average velos in the low 90s.  He hit a bump in AAA with the Yankees, but figured it out in his last 20 AAA games with a .286/.383/.486 slash with 3 bombs and 2 steals.

Player Notes:  Every hit or Ramirez this week has been an extra base hit that causes damage.

MLB Pitchers:

  1. SP AJ Smith-Shawver (Braves):

2024 AAA:  89 IP | 18.3 K-BB%, 14.2 SwStr%, 29.5 CSW% | 5.85 ERA, 1.24 WHIP

2024 MLB:  4 ⅓ IP | 11.1 K-BB%, 10.3 SwStr%, 24.1 CSW% | 4.62 SIERA, 1.15 WHIP

2025 MLB:  19 IP | 15.1 K-BB%, 31.1 CSW% | 3.58 ERA, 1.68 WHIP

This Week:  5 1/3 IP | 5 Ks, 1 BBs | 3.38 ERA, 0.94 WHIP

Age: 22

ETA:  Early 2025 (debuted in 2023)

fScores: 97 fStuff, 91 fControl, 100 fERA

Comp:  Giovanny Gallegos as a starter

Prime Skills:  A super over the top arm slot that he repeats really well makes it difficult to pick up on what pitch is coming out of his hand.  He throws heat (hits 99 MPH) and the arm slot makes it come on even faster.  His curve is his best pitch and he might be better working in a slider to counter the curve and change up since he’s so vertical.

Player Notes:  AJSS has had command problems since his initial debut at the majors, but his last start gives us hope as he only had one walk.

AAA Hitters:

  1. C / 1B Samuel Basallo (Orioles)

2024 AA/AAA:  .278/.341/.449 | 8.6 BB%, 21.1 K% | 44 XBH, 19 HR, 10 SB

2025 AAA: .227/.314/.455 | 11.8 BB% / 17.6 K% | 4 XBH, 3 HR, 0 SB

This Week:  5/20 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Age: 20

ETA:  Mid 2026

fScores:  93 fContact, 80 fDiscipline, 100 fPower, 84 fSpeed

Comp:  Kyle Schwarber with a better hit tool

Prime Skills:  Solid plate discipline and great power and young for his level, Bassallo has seen some regression in 2024 on the batted ball data, as he has not been lifting the ball in the air enough to reach his power potential and he’s been dinged in the plate skills category this year seeing a decent increase in swinging strike and K rate, while also seeing an even larger decrease in walk rate.  The dude is built for his age with fast hands, but a tight / weird batting stance.  He will likely move off the catcher position full-time because of Rutschman.

Player Notes:  Basallo continues to hit the ball hard and is back after missing about three weeks due to injury.

  1. 2B/3B Matt Shaw (Cubs)

2024 AA/AAA:  .284/.379/.488 | 11.9 BB%, 18.2 K% | 44 XBH, 21 HR, 31 SB

2025 AAA:  .333/.480/.487 | 20 BB%, 6 K% | 4 XHB, 1 HR, 2 SB

This Week:  10/18 (5 BBs) | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 2 SB

Age: 23

ETA: Opening Day

fScores:  95 fContact, 86 fDiscipline, 96 fPower, 168 fSpeed

Comp:  Jonathan India with more speed

Prime Skills:  Shaw has a solid plate approach that should develop as he gets time in the bigs with above average power and speed.  For 2025 fantasy, think of Colt Keith production plus 25 steals or so.  He could be one of the better second basemen in the majors sooner, rather than later (if he gets to play there rather than at 3B) and has the power and speed combo to put up some 20/20 type seasons.  Shaw works to some good launch angles (14.4 average LA) that should help the bat play up.

Player Notes:  Shaw made a swing change for the worse this offseason and went back to AAA to change back to his old swing, we can see he’s now raking and should be back up in short order.

  1. 3B Coby Mayo (Orioles)

2024 AAA:  .293/.372/.592 | 10.3 BB%, 25.1 K% | 54 XBH, 25 HR, 4 SB

2025 AAA:  .252/.356/.523 | 12.6 BB%, 21.3 K% | 13 XBH, 6 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  6/22 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Called up 5/3/25

fScores: 92 fContact, 90 fDiscipline, 111 fPower, 69 fSpeed

Comp:  Nolan Arenado as a hitter (w/ better power, worse hit tool)

Prime Skills:  Mayo has a quick and powerful swing that portends to future 25-30-ish homer power with 5-ish steal speed.  He has an average enough hit tool (82.3 Z-Contact%), but the potential strikeout rate is a bit concerning if he can’t hold it down closer to 25% at the major league level.  The contract rates are still slightly below average, but the near 115 max EV and a 90.7 average EV means Mayo has some of the best power in this prospect group, but he needs the Orioles to find him a full-time position.

Player Notes:  Mayo got the call today (Saturday 5/3) and is hopefully up for the long haul now as he was raking in AAA the last couple of weeks and should have broken camp with the team to begin with.

  1. SS Jordan Lawlar (Diamondbacks)

2024 AA/AAA:  .318/.417/.485 | 9 XBH, 2 HR, 6 SB (23 games)

2025 AAA:  .385/.471/.692 | 12.4 BB%, 21.9 K% | 22 XBH, 6 HR, 12 SB

This Week:  10/18 | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Age:  22

ETA:  Opening Day (debuted in 2024)

fScores: 100 fContact, 104 fDiscipline, 93 fPower, 168 fSpeed

Comp:  Trea Turner light w/ some Jeter in there

Prime Skills:  Lawlar has a nice power swing, but it may affect his contact ability in the majors – he has all fields power and ridiculous speed, he’s a very aggressive base runner and puts himself in good positions to make things happen on top of having way above average plate discipline for his age.

Player Notes:  It’s criminal that Lawlar is not up, he’s possibly been the best player in minor league baseball so far this season.

  1. SS Marcelo Mayer (Red Sox)

2024 AA:  .307/.370/.480 | 9 BB%, 19.7 K% | 36 XBH, 8 HR, 13 SB (77 games)

2025 AAA:  .263/.322/.505 | 7.8 BB%, 19.1 K% | 11 XBH, 7 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  4/17 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Age: 22

ETA: May 2025

fScores: 99 fContact, 86 fDiscipline, 86 fPower, 116 fSpeed

Comp:  Lefty Dansby Swanson with more doubles power / less HR power

Prime Skills:  Fast hands and a good eye lead to an advanced batting average profile, but how much power will he hit for in his prime?  He’s had some bad injury luck that’s affected his statline two seasons in a row now.

Player Notes:  Mayer might be up sooner, rather than later now after the Triston Casas injury.  It will be interesting to see if it’s him or Roman Anthony as Abraham Toro got the temporary call.

  1. C Moises Ballesteros (Cubs)

2024 AA/AAA Stats:  .289/.354/.471 | 8.9 BB%, 18.3 K% | 44 XBH, 19 HR, 1 SB

2025 AAA Stats:  .390/.444/.590 | 8.5 BB%, 11.1 K% | 12 XBH, 4 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  7/21 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 21

ETA: Early 2025

fScores: 95 fContact, 86 fDiscipline, 85 fPower, 67 fSpeed

Comp:  Lefty only Pablo Sandoval w/ more pop

Prime Skills:   Above average hit tool and power for a catcher, but he has a bad body ala Pablo Sandoval, which may negatively affect him down the line.  He showed even more power in the Arizona Fall League and is advanced as a hitter for his age with 6 bombs there.

Player Notes:  Ballesteros is rolling and his biggest issue is that he does not have a defensive home, making it tough for the Cubs to find a fit in their big league roster.

  1. OF Dylan Beavers (Orioles)

2024 AA/AAA:  .242/.342/.408 | 12.8 BB%, 23.5 K% | 40 XBH, 15 HR, 31 SB

2025 AAA:  .283/.393/.414 | 15.4 BB%, 23.6 K% | 7 XBH, 3 HR, 11 SB

This Week:  7/19 | 1 XBH, 0 HR, 3 SB

Age: 23

ETA: Late 2025

fScores: 87 fContact, 105 fDiscipline, 86 fPower, 176 fSpeed

Comp:  Kyle Tucker light w/ a worse hit tool… maybe like a Tommy Pham profile

Prime Skills:  Big lefty outfielder who killed it in the doubles department last year and is not transitioning some of that into homerun power.  There’s a potential 25/25 player here if he can hit enough to make it work.

Player Notes: Beavers is showing obvious improvement on his strong 2024, which is very exciting – it’s too bad he’s on the Orioles as he’s definitely blocked as well.

  1. OF Alejandro Osuna (Rangers)

2024 A+/AA:  .292/.362/.507 | 7.8 BB%, 23.6 K% | 47 XBH, 18 HR, 17 SB

2025 AAA:  .310/.383/.460 | 7 BB%, 13.9 K% | 9 XBH, 2 HR, 5 SB

This Week:  10/20 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Mid 2025

fScores: 99 fContact, 88 fDiscipline, 92 fPower, 123 fSpeed

Comp:  Short Joc Pederson mechanics meets Andrew Benintendi with more speed

Prime Skills:  Osuna is a high floor guy who projects as a pretty solid big leaguer once he gets the call if he gets run.  He has good bat control in the zone.

Player Notes:  Osuna is rocking an 89.2% Contract%, his mix of plus hit tool with slightly plus power and speed make him a very interesting and safe play for success once he gets his shot.

  1. 1B Deyvison De Los Santos (Marlins)

2024 AA/AAA:  .294/.343/.571 | 5.8 BB%, 24.7 K% | 67 XBH, 40 HR, 1 SB

2025 AAA:  .284/.342/.422 | 8.3 BB%, 30.8 K% | 8 XBH, 3 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  6/20 | 2 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Early 2025

fScores: 93 fContact, 45 fDiscipline, 108 fPower, 71 fSpeed

Comp:  Cristian Encarnacion-Strand

Prime Skills:  Big time power potential with an improved contact rate and decrease in strikeouts in 2024.  De Los Santos has rocked a 116 max EV (better than Mayo) and had about a 92 average EV in AAA in 2024.

Player Notes:  Here comes the power… doo, doo, doo, doo, here comes the power, and I say it’s all right!

3B Otto Kemp (Phillies):

Season:  .339/.432/.686 | 9.4 BB% / 23.7 K% | 22 XBH, 9 HR, 5 SB

This Week:  11/22 | 5 XBH, 3 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  Kemp has the makings of a nice bench, backup piece for the Phillies post Edmundo Sosa – maybe sooner though as he’s having a bit of a breakout season thus far with his second time on the list this year.

OF Robert Hassell III (Nationals):

Season:  .294/.347/.385 | 7.6 BB% / 22 K% | 6 XBH, 2 HR, 7 SB

This Week:  11/20 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Hassell has a low barrel rate and needs to keep the ball off the ground, but the good news is he is hitting the ball harder this year with a 91.4 average EV.

C Joe Mack (Marlins):

Season:  .311/.440/.581 | 16.5 BB% / 23.1 K% | 10 XBH, 5 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  4/15 | 1 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  The Marlins are stacked at catcher between Agustin Ramirez and Joe Mack, who was a frequent name on this list last season.

2B Nick Yorke (Pirates):

Season:  .250/.341/.413 | 12.1 BB% / 29.7 K% | 7 XBH, 3 HR, 4 SB

This Week:  6/21 | 2 XBH, 2 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  Yorke is looking like he’s ready to return to the majors after a strong week, one more week like this and a decrease in the strikeout rate and we should see Yorke relatively soon.

AAA Pitchers:

  1. SP Bubba Chandler (Pirates)

2024 AA/AAA: 119 2/3 IP | 22.3 K-BB%, 13.6 SwStr%, 29.5 CSW% | 3.08 ERA, 1.02 WHIP

2025 AAA:  25 ⅓ IP | 31.9 K-BB%, 14.7 SwStr%, 34.7 CSW% | 1.42 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP

Age: 22

ETA: Early/Mid 2025

fScores:  106 fStuff, 95 fControl, 109 fERA

Comp:  Luis Gil with a Zach Wheeler slider

Prime Skills:  Big fastball and slider guy, known as a dual sport athlete who is not finally focusing on baseball rather than football.  A lot of upside here as he has never been focused only on baseball until a couple years ago; he had committed to Clemson to play QB.  He throws 97-99 MPH with a 12/6 killer vertical slider and a sick change up with nice fade that tunnels well and against his other two pitches.

Player Notes:  Chandler is doing about the best you could have dreamed for coming into the season.  He will probably be up very soon.

  1. SP Logan Henderson (Brewers)

2024 CPX/A+/AA/AAA:  81 1/3 IP | 28.1 K-BB%, 15 SwStr%, 31.6 CSW% | 3.32 ERA, 0.91 WHIP

2025 AAA:  26 IP | 24 K-BB%, 14.7 SwStr%, 31 CSW% | 2.42 ERA, 0.96 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 6 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

Age: 23

ETA: Mid 2025

fScores:  105 fStuff, 106 fControl, 110 fERA

Comp:  Spencer Strider-light (dude has some quads) and really ramps up

Prime Skills: Henderson is of slight build (5’ 11”) and has jumped up a couple levels already this season after destroying at low A most of last season.  He has excellent command and a nice fastball / changeup combo.  The fastball runs 94-96 MPH and the change up is one of the better change ups in the minors.

Player Notes:  Henderson had a killer first start in the majors and has continued to impress at AAA after going back down, he’s major league ready.

  1. SP Parker Messick (Guardians)

2024 A+/AA:  133 2/3 IP | 22.1 K-BB%, 16 SwStr%, 30.6 CSW% | 2.83 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

2025 AAA:  22 ⅓ IP | 20.8 K-BB%, 16.8 SwStr%, 30.4 CSW% | 3.22 ERA, 1.21 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.40 WHIP

Age: 23

ETA:  Mid 2025

fScores:  93 Stuff, 99 fControl, 132 fERA

Comp:  Framber Valdez / lefty Sonny Gray light

Prime Skills:  Shorter heavy set lefty who is a classic Guardians command guy who is breaking ball heavy and a former second rounder out of FSU.  He’s very sweeper heavy, it’s a killer pitch, but I’d like to see him generate more GBs so he gets more toward the Framber Valdez pendulum than Andrew Abbott.

Player Notes:  Messick had another big game showing increased strikeout stuff this year.

AA Hitters:

  1. 1B Bryce Eldridge (Giants)

2024 A/A+/AA/AAA:  .289/.372/.513 | 11.4 BB%, 25.4 K% | 52 XBH, 23 HR, 6 SB

2025 AA:  N/A (just came back)

This Week:  8/21 | 3 XBH, 0 HR, 0 SB

Age: 20

ETA: Late 2025 (August / September)

fScores: 103 fContact, 99 fDiscipline, 101 fPower, 89 fSpeed

Comp:  Taller Matt Olson with more gaps in the hit tool to work on

Prime Skills:  Big time power potential at a huge 6’ 7” 223 lb., but he needs to close the gaps in his swing in order to avoid being over exposed to strikeouts.  He’s done a much better job at showing a good eye for walks, but the K rate and swinging strike issues are still existent and even though we don’t have a lot of statcast data (20 BBE), he only had a 76.8 Z-Contact%.

Player Notes:  Eldridge is back in action and starting the season with a bunch of doubles.

  1. OF Spencer Jones (Yankees)

2024 AA:  .259/.336/.452 | 9.9 BB%, 36.8 K% | 53 XBH, 17 HR, 25 SB

2025 AA:  .236/.382/.573 | 18.2 BB%, 35.4 K% | 12 XBH, 9 HR, 6 SB

This Week:  5/19 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 2 SB

Age:  24

ETA: Late 2025

fScores: 106 fContact, 68 fDiscipline, 96 fPower, 138 fSpeed

Comp:  Shohei Ohtani Super Light (just the hitter) meets Adolis Garcia

Prime Skills:  He’s huge at 6’ 6” and has ridiculous power potential with decent speed to boot. Everyone wants to comp him to Judge since they are both Yankees, but I think Ohtani makes more sense, even the stance is more like Ohtani.  He has a ton of sneaky speed to go along with the huge power potential, but the swing has some holes in it.

Player Notes:  The power and speed are all there early this season for Spencer Jones at a much better rate than previously, but unfortunately the Ks are all still there as well.

  1. OF Cole Carrigg (Rockies)

2024 CPX/A+:  .283/.359/.491 | 9.7 BB%, 18.9 K% | 47 XBH, 17 HR, 53 SB

2025 AA:  .272/.366/.519 | 8.6 BB%, 30.1 K% | 10 XBH, 4 HR, 7 SB

This Week:  6/17 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Age: 23

ETA: Mid 2026

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Jarren Duran as a switch hitter

Prime Skills:  Ridiculous power / speed skill set with some insane numbers, but he was older for the levels he played at in 2024 and there are rumors of some maturity issues with him.  Statistically he rates pretty above average across the board with superior speed, but the Rockies have a lot of these toolsy OFs and haven’t really been able to develop any of them.  The dude is versatile though as a former catcher and has been clocked throwing 102 MPH.

Player Notes:

  1. 2B Christian Moore (Angels)

2024 College:  .375/.451/.797 | 55 XBH, 34 HR, 5 SB

2024 A/AA:  .347/.400/.584 | 8.2 BB%, 26.4 K% | 12 XBH, 6 HR, 2 SB (25 games)

2025 AA:  .221/.351/.351 | 17 BB%, 26.6 K% | 6 XBH, 1 HR, 4 SB

This Week:  7/17 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Age:  22

ETA: June 2025

fScores: 97 fContact, 74 fDiscipline, 102 fPower, 100 fSpeed

Comp:  Connor Norby profile with shades of Alex Bregman (without the plate skills)

Prime Skills:  Moore is a big secondbasemen with a sweet righty swing through the zone with some easy power for a middle infielder.  Killer middle infield power with a great field of hit and very good place skills.

Player Notes:  The power is down for Moore this year as he’s having some big time contact% problems at only around 67% on the season.

OF Benny Montgomery (Rockies):

Season:  .208/.305/.361 | 11 BB% / 37.8 K% | 5 XBH, 3 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  6/15 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Montgomery is not having a good season, but did have a good week so maybe we see a turnaround ala Zac Veen.

SS Mikey Romero (Red Sox):

Season:  .263/.371/.513 | 13.3 BB% / 37.8 K% | 9 XBH, 4 HR, 2 SB

This Week:  6/19 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Romero hits this list for the second time of the season and was a repeat guy a number of times at the back end of last season as well.

OF Hector Rodriguez (Reds):

Season:  .356/.417/.517 | 8.3 BB% / 15.6 K% | 7 XBH, 3 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  7/21 | 2 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  He’s a heavy platoon guy, but he’s aggressive in the zone and destroying righties.

OF Junior Perez (Athletics):

Season:  .314/.410/.558 | 13.7 BB% / 22.5 K% | 11 XBH, 5 HR, 6 SB

This Week:  7/19 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  Perez has been a non prospect until this season, but even despite the good stats he has a poor contact rate.

AA Pitchers:

  1. SP Chase Burns (Reds)

2024 College:  100 IP | 191 Ks, 30 BBs | 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP

2025 Season:  20 ⅔ IP | 33.7 K-BB%, 20.3 SwStr%, 38.9 CSW% | 2.61 ERA, 1.02 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Age:  21

ETA: Late 2025

fScores:  113 fStuff, 98 fControl, 101 fERA

Comp:  Hunter Greene / Dylan Cease mash up

Prime Skills:  Insane fastball / slider combo that could be one of the best in baseball.  He’s bigger than some of the other guys with this type of fastball / slider combo like Jones and Strider and could also just be a better version of Jared Jones.

Player Notes:  Burns was promoted to AA and killed it this week at the higher level.

  1. SP Owen Wild (Rays)

2024 A/A+:  121 1/3 IP | 24.1 K-BB%, 16.6 SwStr%, 27.8 CSW% | 2.82 ERA, 1.15 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 4 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.25 WHIP

Age:  22

ETA: 2026

fScores: 105 fStuff, 101 fControl, 108 fERA

Comp:  Joe Ryan / Nick Pivetta mash up

Prime Skills:  Interesting overhand delivery with some crazy ride on a lower 90s velo fastball with his delivery.  There’s some deception in this delivery that makes for a very interesting pitcher.  He also has a slider and change up.  He gets a lot of extension and has a ton of zip on his fastball, it has some fun run to it and the slider tunnels against it nicely.

Player Notes:  Owen Wild made his second start of the season after an unknown injury and is looking pretty sharp as he builds up.

  1. SP Hunter Barco (Pirates)

2024 A+/AA:  66 IP | 22.9 K-BB%, 14.1 SwStr%, 30.1 CSW% | 3.27 ERA, 1.06 WHIP

2025 AA:  20 ⅔ IP | 34.7 K-BB%, 18.7 SwStr%, 36.4 CSW% | 0.00 ERA, 0.63 WHIP

This Week:  3 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.33 WHIP

Age: 23

ETA: Mid 2025

fScores: 103 fStuff, 98 fControl, 97 fERA

Comp:  Chris Sale light / Brandon Williamson mash

Prime Skills:  Barco is a big lefty with an almost side arm delivery playing up a killer slider with excellent command.  It looks like he put on some size since his pre-draft days at FL, which might help in building up the innings and trying to add velo to the fastball.

Player Notes:  Barco has been ridiculously good so far this season, hopefully he can maintain his health.

  1. SP Jonah Tong (Mets)

Comp:  Jared Jones light

Prime Skills: Killer IVB on a mid 90s fastball (hitting 95-96 MPH now) and a big curve that drops right in on hitters.  He had some big time velo increase this year and we are seeing a decrease in command as he has moved up levels.

Player Notes:  The start noted was from last Sunday as the Saturday start was postponed from rain.

SP Kohl Drake (Rangers)

2025 Season:  16 1/3 IP | 28.4 K-BB%, 17.7 SwStr%, 36.5 CSW% | 3.31 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 9 Ks, 3 BBs | 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP

Notes:  My biggest knock on Kohl Drake the last two years has been age-to-level, I like him but he’s almost 25-years-old and I’d like to see him moved quickly this year as by age he should be ready at some point this year.

SP Brody Hopkins (Rays)

2025 Season:  24 IP | 11.7 K-BB%, 10.5 SwStr%, 27.7 CSW% | 4.13 ERA, 1.38 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Notes:  Hopkins has some really great stuff, but has had rough control so far this season.  He’s almost a side-armer that is tough to pick up and comes in at 96-98 mph with a crazy 88-90 mph slider.  He’s been throwing less than 50% strikes per game – he needs to clean up the command to live up to his potential.

SP Jose Franco (Reds)

2025 Season:  17 1/3 IP | 20 K-BB%, 17.1 SwStr%, 30.2 CSW% | 0.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.40 WHIP

Notes:  Franco has a killer curve ball with a slightly above average fastball at 94 with some ride and a decent sinker.

A+ Hitters:

  1. SS Leodalis De Vries (Padres)

2024 A:  .237/.361/.441 | 13.9 BB%, 23.3 K% | 36 XBH, 11 HR, 13 SB (75 games)

2025 A+:  .308/.396/.603 | 13 BB%, 16.3 K% | 12 XBH, 4 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  7/16 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Age: 18

ETA: 2027

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Switch hitting Alfonso Soriano at SS

Prime Skills:  De Vries has super high upside across the board and is a five-tool talent, but at 17-years-old is way above his age-to-level.  De Vries is absolutely electric and has a long swing despite quick hands, giving me that Soriano feeling.  He had a 116 wRC+ as a 17-year-old, which translating age-to-level might place him closer around 160-170 or so.

Player Notes:  De Vries is off to a stellar start to the season as an 18-year-old in high A.

  1. OF Josue de Paula (Dodgers)

2024 A/A+:  .268/.404/.405 | 17.5 BB%, 19.8 K% | 30 XBH, 10 HR, 27 SB

2025 A+:  .274/.408/.488 | 18.4 BB%, 14.6 K% | 9 XBH, 4 HR, 4 SB

This Week:  6/16 | 2 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

Age:  20

ETA:  Late 2026

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  Lefty Jordan Walker

Prime Skills:  Big kid has a body that power can grow into with a solid hit tool, great plate skills and none zero speed.  The contact skills are very good as well for his age without many holes in the swing.  The power should develop further as he grows into his big 6’ 3” frame.

Player Notes:  de Paula has incredibly impressive plate skills and an above average contact rate with power and speed.

  1. SS / 3B Seaver King (Nationals)

2024 College:  .308/.377/.577 | 33 XBH, 16 HR, 11 SB

2024 A:  .295/.367/.385 | 10 BB%, 14.4 K% | 4 XBH, 0 HR, 10 SB

2025 A+:  .234/.306/.377  | 7.1 BB%, 32.9 K% | 5 XBH, 2 HR, 6 SB

This Week:  4/18 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Mid 2026

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Trea Turner light

Prime Skills:  King has a good hit tool and electric speed, King has a wide open stance that generates more power from his smaller frame than you would expect that will likely translate more for doubles than homers in the majors.  He is aggressive in the zone and should run high averages.

Player Notes:  King is struggling with strikeouts, but it’s good to see enough power showing this season.

  1. OF Aidan Smith (Rays)

2024 A:  .288/.401/.473 | 14.4 BB%, 23.2 K%| 45 XBH, 11 HR, 41 SB

2025 A+:  .262/.340/.357 | 8.5 BB%, 33 K% | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 10 SB

This Week:  7/17 | 1 XBH, 1 HR, 4 SB

Age: 20

ETA: Late 2026

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  Righty Josh Lowe light

Prime Skills: Smith is a toolsy doubles machine (33 on the year) and became a stolen base machine as soon as he was traded to the Rays from Seattle in the Randy Arozarena deal after being drafted out of high school last year.  He keeps the ball off the ground ala Colby Thomas and that’s what is allowing him to do so much damage.

Player Notes:  The power hasn’t been there for Smith this season, but the speed definitely has been there.

  1. SS Arjun Nimmala (Blue Jays)

2024 CPX/A:  .232/.325/.482 | 10 BB%, 30.7 K% | 44 XBH, 17 HR, 9 SB

2025 A+:  .303/.367/.573 | 8.2 BB%, 20.4 K% | 12 XBH, 6 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  7/18 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 19

ETA: 2027

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Righty J.P. Crawford

Prime Skills:  He should stick at SS long-term as a solid defensive player with a good all fields hit tool that currently projects as better gap power than homerun power.  He’s young with a solid frame and brings a lot more power than you might expect for his age.

Player Notes:  Nimmala has made an extremely impressive transition to high A after a very rough start at low A last season.

3B Mac Horvath (Rays):

Season:  .250/.368/.403 | 14.9 BB% / 28.7 K% | 5 XBH, 3 HR, 6 SB

This Week:  5/15 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Horvath is still striking out way too much, but it’s good to see some of the power coming around to meet the walk rate.

SS George Lombard Jr. (Yankees):

Season:  .312/.491/.455 | 21.7 BB% / 20.8 K% | 8 XBH, 1 HR, 11 SB

This Week:  6/18 | 3 XBH, 0 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  Lombard is walking at a ridiculous rate and the only thing he is lacking in is power at this point, but he’s young for the level.

OF Fenwick Trimble (Marlins):

Season:  .264/.424/.431 | 20.7 BB% / 18.5 K% | 8 XBH, 1 HR, 14 SB

This Week:  6/13 (4 BBs) | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  This dude has a fun name, but I love the speed and walk on-base combo here.

OF Ivan Brethowr (Cubs):

Season:  .309/.489/.471 | 20.7 BB% / 22.8 K% | 5 XBH, 3 HR, 7 SB

This Week:  9/31 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  This is Brethowr’s second week on the list, he hasn’t done much else besides those weeks, but it’s an interesting profile.

A+ Pitchers:

SP Garrett McMillon (Pirates)

Season:  25 ⅓ IP | 24.7 K-BB%, 13.6 SwStr%, 29.4 CSW% | 1.42 ERA, 0.83 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Notes:  McMillon is a control artist type pitcher who doesn’t have the best stuff, but he was good last year as well and this is his second week on the list.

SP Santiago Suarez (Rays)

2025 Season:  24 1/3 IP | 24 K-BB%, 14.8 SwStr%, 30.1 CSW% | 1.85 ERA, 0.86 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 5 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.33 WHIP

Notes:  Suarez was floating within my top 150 range last season and may be back in there again soon with a very strong start to the season in high A.

SP Gage Jump (Athletics)

2025 Season:  23 IP | 34.4 K-BB%, 15.8 SwStr%, 32.6 CSW% | 2.74 ERA, 0.96 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 7 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.20 WHIP (1 H)

Notes:  Jump is a college lefty drafted in the second round in 2024 with a high 90s fastball fromm the left side with nice ride.  He could be a quick riser as the Athletics aren’t super deep at the higher levels with pitching and this is his second consecutive week on this list.

SP T.J. Nichols (Rays)

2025 Season:  20 2/3 IP | 32.9 K-BB%, 16 SwStr%, 35.8 CSW% | 2.18 ERA, 0.87 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 6 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.33 WHIP

Notes:  Nichols was good last year, but has been a completely different pitcher stuff wise in 2025 and is a name everyone should be watching.

SP Payton Tolle (Red Sox)

2025 Season:  N/A

This Week:  4 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP

Notes:  Tolle was the Red Sox second round pick last year and he did not pitch in 2024, but he had his first good start of his career this week out of three starts.

SP Brandon Clarke (Red Sox)

2025 Season:  14 1/3 IP | 41.5 K-BB%, 21.7 SwStr%, 41.9 CSW% | 0.63 ERA, 0.35 WHIP

This Week:  4 1/3 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.69 WHIP

Notes:  Clarke is a big lefty drafted in the fifth round who did pitch last year and has had insanely ridiculous numbers since his debut.  This is a name that should be on everyone’s list this year – he should be a quick riser.

SP Bishop Letson (Brewers)

2025 Season:  21 1/3 IP | 28.2 K-BB%, 12.5 SwStr%, 31.5 CSW% | 1.27 ERA, 0.80 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.80 WHIP

Notes:  Letson was below average last season in low A, but has been solid this season.

A Hitters:

  1. OF Jonny Farmelo (Mariners)

2024 A:  .264/.398/.421 | 16.3 BB%, 23.5 K% | 17 XBH, 4 HR, 18 SB (46 games)

This Week:  4/14 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Age: 20

ETA: 2027

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Charlie Blackmon

Prime Skills:  Big long levered lefty with some big time power / speed potential with quick back speed.  He tends to coil up as the pitch is coming in and unleashes to make some nice driving contact that I think will lead to a big doubles profile.

Player Notes:  Farmelos made his return from injury this week and is off to a killer start.

  1. C Eduardo Tait (Phillies)

2024 CPX/A:  .302/.356/.486 | 6.4 BB%, 19.6 K% | 30 XBH, 11 HR, 5 SB (79 games)

2025 A:  .247/.306/.506 | 5.1 BB%, 21.4 K% | 11 XBH, 6 HR, 0 SB

This Week:  4/16 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Comp:  A lefty version of the Contreras brothers

Age:  18

ETA:  2027

Comp:  A lefty version of the Contreras brothers

Prime Skills:  Nice lefty swing from the catching prospect from Panama (ala lefty Ivan Herrera) with some big power potential, especially for a catcher.  He’s been absolutely raking through all of the complex league with 34 RBI in 32 games, but really took off toward the end of complex from a power standpoint and has kept on raking up through A ball as a 17-year-old.

Player Notes:  Tait has been mashing all season  He’s been aggressive in the zone and is rocking a 107.3 90th percentile EV as an 18-year-old.

  1. SS Jesus Made (Brewers)

2024 DSL:  .331/.458/.554 | 18.1 BB%, 13 K% | 21 XBH, 6 HR, 28 SB (51 games)

2025 A:  .316/.407/.494 | 11 BB%, 20.9 K% | 7 XBH, 3 HR, 8 SB

This Week:  10/24 | 1 XBH, 1 HR, 2 SB

Age: 18

ETA: Late 2027

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Smaller switch-hitting infield Christian Yelich profile and swing mechanics

Prime Skills:  We don’t have a lot of data on the DSL guys, but the stats speak for themselves here.  Great plate skills (more walks than Ks) are rare for DSL guys who put up these kind of power and speed numbers.  It’s hard to judge how the power and speed will translate as he increases levels, but he projects as a 20/30 type bat as his development continues.

Player Notes:  Made is close to 3/4/5 and has been impressively steady this season week-in and week-out.

  1. SS / OF Konnor Griffin (Pirates)

2024 CPX:  N/A

2025 A:  .253/.320/.494 | 6.1 BB%, 30.1 K% | 10 XBH, 5 HR, 11 SB

This Week:  5/17 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Age: 18

ETA: 2028

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Light Fernando Tatis Jr.

Prime Skills:  Griffin is a big righty with a good arm as a high school pitcher and he has some massive power upside.  The high stance and high and tight hands in his swing reminds me of Fernando Tatis Jr. and like Tatis, he will probably have plenty of swing and miss to go with the damage.

Player Notes:  Griffin needs to work on keeping the ball off the ground, but he’s putting up an Elly de la Cruz like profile thus far into his career.

OF Asbel Gonzalez (Royals):

Season:  .389/.505/.422 | 12.5 BB% / 8.8 K% | 2 XBH, 0 HR, 21 SB

This Week:  7/18 | 1 XBH, 0 HR, 7 SB

Notes:  This speed profile is ridiculous, he is making Chandler Simpson look light.

SS Caden Powell (Astros):

Season:  .304/.363/.500 | 6.9 BB% / 30.4 K% | 10 XBH, 4 HR, 5 SB

This Week:  6/21 | 3 XBH, 3 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  Powell was a small college 6th rounder last year, but he has shown some nice power to date despite the high K rate – which is almost becoming typical for an Astros prospects.

OF Carlos Sanchez (Reds):

Season:  .395/.511/.632 | 19.1 BB% / 27.7 K% | 11 XBH, 2 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  10/19 | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Sanchez has had some ridiculous BABIP luck so far this season, but the extra base hits are awesome to see.

2B/OF Andrew Salas (Marlins):

Season:  .352/.500/.407 | 22.9 BB% / 18.6 K% | 2 XBH, 0 HR, 9 SB

This Week:  8/17 | 0 XBH, 0 HR, 4 SB

Notes:  The EVs are not good, but he’s barely 17-years-old.  A new 80% contact rate with a ridiculous eye and plus athleticism is insane to watch for his age though.

A Pitchers:

  1. SP Trey Yesevage (Blue Jays)

2024 College:  93 1/3 IP | 145 Ks, 32 BBs | 2.03 ERA, 0.87 WHIP

2025 A:  23 ⅓ IP | 31.5 K-BB%, 20.2 SwStr%, 36.8 CSW% | 2.31 ERA, 0.90 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

Age:  21

ETA: Late 2025

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  Righty Kershaw light

Prime Skills:  Big righty with a super over-the-top trebuchet like delivery that throws a solid fastball (93-95 MPH), slider and changeup combo.

Player Notes:  Yesavage has been way too good for the low A level and should be in high A or AA at this point.

SP Griffin Herring (Yankees)

Season:  30 IP | 24.4 K-BB%, 17.1 SwStr%, 34.8 CSW% | 0.60 ERA, 0.90 WHIP

This Week:  6 2/3 IP | 11 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.35 ERA, 0.75 WHIP

Notes:  Herring was a sixth rounder out of LSU and it’s possible he’s one of the A ball pop up pitchers of 2025 we saw last season (ala Quinn Mathews).  He’s had a phenomenal start through five starts now and has made this list twice, he needs to jump up a level soon.

SP Brody Brecht (Rockies)

Season:  15 IPs | 23.6 K-BB%, 17.8 SwStr%, 32.2 CSW% | 3.45 ERA, 1.60 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Notes:  I love Brecht, he is just outside of my top 150 and he has such good stuff – could be a killer closer now, but the Rockies already found their guy with Halvorsen, so Brecht will get run as a starter to figure out the command.

SP Bryce Mecage (Brewers)

2025 Season:  16 1/3 IP | 16.9 K-BB%, 30.4 CSW% | 2.20 ERA, 0.86 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 7 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP

Notes:  Mecage was the Brewers second round pick and is a big righty who can hit 97 mph with his high riding fastball and he also has a knee breaking curve.
