The 2025 Rocket Classic is the next PGA Tour event that will be played at Detroit Golf Club this week. It’s a full field with 156 golfers but without World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, who have both been red-hot, recording multiple wins in 2025, this event is wide-open.
Collin Morikawa is the current betting favorite. Patrick Cantlay, Keegan Bradley, Ben Griffin and Cameron Young round out the top five in the outright winner betting market. Cam Davis, who has won this event twice since 2021, including last season, is +9000 to defend his title.
My Travelers Championship DFS Primer had four quality finishes from all of my recommended golfers. The worst finish came from Robert MacIntyre’s T17. Ben Griffin posted a T14 finish, while Brian Harman (8th) and Harry Hall (T9) both cracked top 10 on the final leaderboard at TPC River Highlands.
Let’s keep the momentum rolling into more profitable DraftKings and FanDuel DFS lineups ahead of the 2025 Rocket Classic. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more PGA free picks and analysis.

Course Overview
Detroit Golf Club is in the final year of its current look before undergoing a big renovation. It’s a par 72 that runs 7,370 yards and features four-inch rough along tree-lined fairways.
Water hazards are minimal but sand bunkers flank fairways and protect relatively small Poa annua greens averaging 5,000 square feet. The Stimpmeter projects 12.5 feet for putting velocity this week.
Four par 5s and four par 4s under 400 yards create ideal scoring conditions. There aren’t many doglegged fairways, so tee-to-green accuracy and hot putting are the most viable options to climb into contention at the Rocket Classic.
Recommended Plays: DraftKings
DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000
Cameron Young: $9,300
One of the best adds to DFS lineups this week is undoubtedly Cameron Young. He’s only played Detroit Golf Club twice but has recorded a pair of top 10 finishes.
A disappointing result at the Travelers Championship shouldn’t keep us away from backing this power hitter. Young ranks top 10 in SG: Putting and 17th in driving distance. $9.3K is a top-seven price but Young is worth every penny.
A pair of top 5 finishes at the RBC Canadian Open and U.S. Open, before a T52 at TPC River Highlands, means Young is still trending up with his game. Ranked 29th in birdie average, making 15 or more in three of his past four events.
Harry Hall: $9,500
Harry Hall is another golfer with a hot putter. He’s even more expensive than Young to acquire in DraftKings lineups but I believe it’s worth the price of admission.
The Englishman carded a T31 at the 2024 Rocket Classic but he’s coming off of a T9 finish at the Travelers Championship. Hall is averaging 78.5 FPPG on DraftKings this season. He’s also logged 82 or more FPPG in four of his previous five events played.
Top five marks for one-putt rate, scoring average, par 4 average and birdie average in 2025. Prioritize Hall, despite the expensive price, ahead of Round 1 at Detroit Golf Club.

FanDuel maximum salary is set at $60,000
Cam Davis: $8,800
There’s no way I’m punting on Cam Davis. He’s a two-time winner at Detroit Golf Club. 2025 hasn’t been a strong year for the Aussie but he should be able to find a rhythm early on this course.
Davis ranks 45th on approach shots from 200+ yards, 20th putting average and 60th birdie average. The tee-to-green game has been awful this season, which is why the defending champion is available to roster at such a cheap price.
Pounce on this value. Insert Davis into lineups and bank on his putter to help him post a top 20 finish or better in Detroit this week.
Andrew Putnam: $8,300
This will be the first time in 2025 I recommend Andrew Putnam in any DFS contest. He’s only got one top 10 finish under his belt this year but it came via T6 finish during his last event played at the RBC Canadian Open.
Putnam ranks 40th total strokes gained. This includes 33rd SG: Approach, 23rd SG: Putting, sixth in driving accuracy and seventh for greens in regulation hit at over 70 percent.
Putnam is ninth in scoring average and eighth on par 4s. His birdie average is relatively weak at 3.71 per round in 2025 but he’s more than capable of delivering plenty of red on his scorecard at Detroit Golf Club this week.
Posted 104+ FP in two of his last four events played. It’s wheels up for Putnam at a generous $8.3K salary in FanDuel DFS contests.
