Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report

I won’t hit on every prospect every week, but will focus on the most relevant prospects throughout the week and will follow up with other notable players. This article will not focus on any AAAA-type players or veterans in the Minors who have outlived their prospect status.

NOTE: Rookie status is determined by 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched at the Major League level. All stats are up-to-date as of Sunday, August 10th.

MLB Pitchers

  1. SP Chase Burns (Reds)

2024 College:  100 IP | 191 Ks, 30 BBs | 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP

2025 MILB:  66 IP | 31.4 K-BB%, 17.7 SwStr%, 35.2% CSW | 1.77 ERA, 0.77 WHIP

2025 MLB:  34 1/3 IP | 29.1 K-BB%, 15.4 SwStr%, 29.3% CSW | 5.24 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 10 Ks, 1 BBs | 1.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

Age:  21

ETA: Late 2025

fScores:  120 fStuff, 109 fControl, 134 fERA

Comp:  Hunter Greene / Dylan Cease mash up

Prime Skills:  Insane fastball / slider combo that could be one of the best in baseball.  He’s bigger than some of the other guys with this type of fastball / slider combo like Jared Jones and Spencer Strider and could also just be a better version of Jared Jones.  The fastball ranges from 98-102 with a ton of ride running an over 19 IVB, while his slider runs 87-89 as the primary swing and miss pitch and the curve is also a plus pitch.

Player Notes:  Chase Burns had his best career start this week and has been a beast on the mound under the hood all season, as long as he can maintain health – we have a special one here.

AAA Hitters:

  1. C / 1B Samuel Basallo (Orioles)

2024 AA/AAA:  .278/.341/.449 | 8.6 BB%, 21.1 K% | 44 XBH, 19 HR, 10 SB

2025 AAA:  .277/.384/.613 | 13.9 BB%, 23.2 K% | 39 XBH, 23 HR, 0 SB

This Week:  7/18 | 5 XBH, 3 HR, 0 SB

Age: 20

ETA:  September 2025

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  Kyle Schwarber with a better hit tool

Prime Skills:  Solid plate discipline and great power and young for his level, Bassallo has seen some regression in 2024 on the batted ball data, as he has not been lifting the ball in the air enough to reach his power potential and he’s been dinged in the plate skills category this year seeing a decent increase in swinging strike and K rate, while also seeing an even larger decrease in walk rate.  The dude is built for his age with fast hands, but a tight / weird batting stance.  He will likely move off the catcher position full-time because of Rutschman.  Oddly he has a 23.9% barrel rate and only an 11.3% line drive rate this season, I’ve never seen such a discrepancy between those two numbers, which means most of his barrels are in the air and most of his non-barrels are in the ground (48% GB rate), which needs corrected.

Player Notes: Basallo continues the trend of absolutely crushing, as he turns 21-years-old next week.  I expect him up in September.

  1. OF Dylan Beavers (Orioles)

2024 AA/AAA:  .242/.342/.408 | 12.8 BB%, 23.5 K% | 40 XBH, 15 HR, 31 SB

2025 AAA:  .309/.425/.536 | 16.5 BB%, 17.2 K% | 34 XBH, 18 HR, 22 SB

This Week:  7/16 (4 BBs) | 5 XBH, 4 HR, 0 SB

Age: 23

ETA: Mid/Late August 2025

fScores: 102 fContact, 108 fDiscipline, 91 fPower, 173 fSpeed

Comp:  Kyle Tucker mechanics with a PCA skillset

Prime Skills:  Big lefty outfielder who killed it in the doubles department last year and is not transitioning some of that into homerun power.  There’s a potential 20/25 player here if he can hit enough to make it work as the 105.9 90th percentile EV and 110.3 max EV portend to at least 20 homer power. The hit tool has progressed dramatically since last season as he now has a well above average 89.1 Z-Contact% and 81.3 Contact% with only a 21.5 chase rate.

Player Notes:  Beavers has been raking for weeks and should get the call sometime in the next week or two – the Orioles removed some of their OF glut and the goal would be to keep his ABs under 130.

  1. OF Henry Bolte (Athletics)

2024 A+/AA:  .267/.368/.466 | 11.2 BB% / 34.7 K% | 55 XBH, 15 HR, 46 SB

2025 AA/AAA:  .288/.390/.433 | 12.3 BB%, 27.5 K% | 30 XBH, 8 HR, 36 SB

This Week:  8/19 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Age: 21

ETA: Mid 2026

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Righty Nolan Jones

Prime Skills:  Bolte put up a decent steals total and some solid power numbers last year, but a high BABIP and high K rate made him look like a small ball version of Nolan Jones in a bad organization, but this year even though the concerns are the same (.406 BABIP in high A), the power is way up and he looks like he could kind of be an actual copycat Nolan Jones where he’s just going to project as a 25/35 type guy with a volatile batting average.  It might say a lot that his hit tool is much better this year, but the contact% is still 66.6%

Player Notes: The contact rates have actually not been as bad as I expected up in AAA, but so much of what he does is BABIP fueled, that I do get Nolan Jones-esk concerns.

  1. OF Jhostynxon Garcia (Red Sox)

2024 A/A+/AA:  .286/.356/.536 | 7.2 BB% / 21.6 K% | 52 XBH, 23 HR, 17 SB

2025 AAA:  .290/.366/.523 | 10.1 BB%, 24.7 K% | 39 XBH, 19 HR, 5 SB

This Week:  8/21 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

Age: 22

ETA: Early 2026

fScores:  99 fContact, 74 fDiscipline, 104 fPower, 105 fSpeed

Comp:  Manny Ramirez mechanics with a Spencer Steer profile

Prime Skills: Already nicknamed the Password, this guy is basically a better version of Isaac Paredes as a hitter, rocking an over 46% flyball rate and 46% pull rate equaling a near 30% HR/FB rate last season.  He has an odd, sub-par contact profile with a 78.5% contact rate and a 77.8% Z-contact%, so his contact rate is actually higher on pitches outside of the zone, very strange.  Garcia hits the ball hard consistently with a 90.6 average EV, but only a 109.2 max EV caps his homer potential in the low 20s.

Player Notes:  The list has been a tad repetitive the last few weeks at AAA as some of these guys like Garcia are just absolutely raking – I can’t wait to start getting some of the new draftees into the mix.

  1. 2B / SS Tommy Troy (Diamondbacks)

2024 CPX/A+:  .234/.318/.363 | 9.9 BB%, 22.6 K% | 23 XBH, 5 HR, 16 SB

2025 AA/AAA:  .294/.388/.478 | 12.2 BB%, 17.5 K% | 38 XBH, 13 HR, 21 SB

This Week:  8/17 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Age: 23

ETA:  Early 2026

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Matt McLain light / Maikel Garcia mash

Prime Skills:  I was really high on Troy when he first came on the scene, but his hit tool has only proven to be sub-par (73.4% contact% this year), but he does have above average  gap power and plus speed with a much improved plate approach that is borderline 55/60 and some solid speed that could result in a 15/25 potential profile.  He has a 5’9”  fire hydrant type build with a big leg kick in his swing.

Player Notes:  Tommy Troy has had an excellent rebound season and is becoming the player I thought he could be back in 2023 after he was drafted.

SS/OF Andrew Pintar (Marlins):

Season:  .296/.379/.548 | 9.8 BB% / 22 K% | 15 XBH, 7 HR, 2 SB

This Week:  6/18 | 6 XBH, 0 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Pintar may not be a superstar in the future, but I’ve been talking about him since last year and think he can be a great super utility guy.

OF RJ Schreck (Blue Jays):

Season:  .269/.405/.493 | 15.7 BB% / 21.1 K% | 24 XBH, 13 HR, 8 SB

This Week:  5/14 | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  I have seen Schreck live and he takes very professional ABs, I think he’s big league ready, like Pintar for at least a supporting bench role.

OF Kyler Fedko (Twins):

Season:  .261/.379/.501 | 14.9 BB% / 21 K% | 39 XBH, 21 HR, 30 SB

This Week:  6/18 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  Fedko has made this list 3-4 times now within the last 6 weeks or so, he’s been a beast and could be up before the end of the season.

AAA Pitchers:

  1. SP Quinn Mathews (Cardinals)

2024 A/A+/AA/AAA: 143 1/3 IP | 26.8 K-BB%, 16.1 SwStr%, 32.9 CSW% | 2.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP

2025 MILB:  67 IP | 10.1 K-BB%, 15.5 SwStr%, 28.6 CSW% | 3.36 ERA, 1.51 WHIP

This Week:  7 IP | 9 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.43 WHIP

Age: 24

ETA: September, 2025

fScores:  107 fStuff, 97 fControl, 133 fERA

Comp:  Cole Ragans light

Prime Skills:  Mathews is a big college lefty with a ridiculous fastball / slider combo with a big mid 90s fastball with above average rise to it and the slider is a swing and miss machine paired with that fastball.  He has elite command of these pitches and has shown himself in college to be a workhorse.  He also has a curve and a 60/65 grade change up he didn’t even need when I saw him in A ball.

Player Notes: Quinn Mathews is coming off back-to-back fantastic starts and hopefully this means he has fixed his issues.  This was his best start of the season and if he keeps this up for another 2-3 starts, I expect we could see him up with the big league club in September.

  1. SP Robby Snelling (Marlins)

2024 AA/AAA:  115 1/3 IP | 13.8 K-BB%, 12.2 SwStr%, 28.9 CSW% | 5.15 ERA, 1.52 WHIP

2025 AA/AAA:  100 IP | 22.6 K-BB%, 13.4 SwStr%, 30.3 CSW% | 3.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 11 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Age: 21

ETA: September

fScores:  102 fStuff, 97 fControl, fERA 107

Comp:  Jesus Luzardo-light

Prime Skills:  The ¾ arm-slot helps create a lot of deception between his fastball and slider, which he repurposed this year and also improved the change up.  He’s a three pitch lefty with an above average fastball, a good changeup and a stellar breaking pitch with a knack for avoiding hard contact.  Snelling was only hitting 93 on the fastball last year and it up to 95-97 this year, we forget how young he was in 2023 when he first broke out.  His change up is also up a couple ticks from 86 mph last year to 88-89 this year.  The slider is up to an average of about 83 MPH and that’s what the majority of his Ks seem to come on, but he does have some issues in a reverse split against lefties oddly enough this year.

Player Notes:  Snelling is ready for the majors, but there is no rush for the Marlins to call him up.  If the Marlins want to get aggressive with how well they have played of late, he could be a September call up for them.

  1. SP Parker Messick (Guardians)

2024 A+/AA:  133 2/3 IP | 22.1 K-BB%, 16 SwStr%, 30.6 CSW% | 2.83 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

2025 AAA:  92 2/3 IP | 19.4 K-BB%, 13.3 SwStr%, 28.3 CSW% | 3.30 ERA, 1.18 WHIP

This Week:  6 2/3 IP | 9 Ks, 0 BBs | 4.05 ERA, 0.60 WHIP

Age: 23

ETA:  Late August, 2025

fScores:  98 Stuff, 99 fControl, 124 fERA

Comp:  Framber Valdez / lefty Sonny Gray light

Prime Skills:  Shorter heavy set lefty who is a classic Guardians command guy who is breaking ball heavy and a former second rounder out of FSU.  He’s been primarily throwing fastball and changeup this season even though his slider and sinker are both very solid pitches, but the change up has become his primary strikeout pitch with a 27.7 SwStr% on the season.

Player Notes:  Messick is better than some of the current rotation pieces and I’m surprised he didn’t get the call after the Luis Ortiz suspension – I suppose they are looking to maintain his rookie eligibility into next year.

AA Hitters:

  1. SS Kaelen Culpepper (Twins)

2024 A/A+:  .242/.330/.394 | 9.8 BB%, 13.4 K% | 8 XBH, 3 HR, 4 SB

2025 A+/AA:  .316/.397/.511 | 10.1 BB% / 16.5 K% | 33 XBH, 17 HR, 23 SB

This Week:  9/24 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 3 SB

Age: 22

ETA: 2027

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Dansby Swanson

Prime Skills:  Kaelen Culpepper is showing a very nice hit tool and plus plate approach this season with a little power and speed on the side as the Twins first rounder from last season.  Culpepper is running a plus contact rate at 78%, but he has had a pretty rough time against lefties, though it’s not enough of a concern that he has potential platoon issues.  He has great bat speed and a really sweet swing that portends to some nice pull power.

Player Notes: Culpepper is on a tear, the power has really come to light this season and he’s one of the more dynamic players in the minors right now.

OF Dylan Campbell (Phillies):

Season:  .229/.311/.398 | 9.8 BB% / 22 K% | 32 XBH, 11 HR, 24 SB

This Week:  7/17 (5 BBs) | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  Dylan Campbell is a tool bag with no wielder, if he can figure out the hit tool – he could be a fun player.

OF Victor Arias (Blue Jays):

Season:  .292/.382/.451 | 12.1 BB% / 20.3 K% | 33 XBH, 7 HR, 17 SB

This Week:  9/23 | 6 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Arias is a pretty underrated player, as the Jays traded a big part of their farm at the deadline, but have been much better the past calendar year at developing their guys.

OF Homer Bush Jr. (Rays):

Season:  .298/.371/.352 | 8 BB% / 18.9 K% | 15 XBH, 0 HR, 47 SB

This Week:  12/18 | 0 XBH, 0 HR, 11 SB

Notes:  Holy smokes, 11 steals in one week!  Bush is a rabbit type who might just follow down the Chandler Simpson mold of player with limited power.

OF Kala’i Rosario (Twins):

Season:  .252/.353/.466 | 12.7 BB% / 27.6 K% | 42 XBH, 17 HR, 22 SB

This Week:  8/20 | 4 XBH, 3 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Rosario has some strikeout problems, but the power / speed combo is legit.  The Twins system is loaded.

AA Pitchers:

  1. SP Thomas White (Marlins)

2024 A/A+:  96 IP | 20 K-BB%, 14.6 SwStr%, 30.5 CSW% | 2.81 ERA, 1.31 WHIP

2025 A+/AA: 59 2/3 IP | 25.5 K-BB%, 17 SwStr%, 31.4 CSW% | 2.72 ERA, 1.19 WHIP

This Week:  4 2/3 IP | 7 Ks, 2 BBs | 3.86 ERA, 1.71 WHIP

Age: 20

ETA:  Mid 2026

fScore:  N/A

Comp:  Carlos Rodon / Andrew Heaney mash up

Prime Skills:  White is a big 6’ 5” lefty who I saw live both in A ball last year and in the Spring Breakout game this spring with noticeable differences in his repertoire that has made his stuff very impressive, while he needs to work on harnessing the command.

Player Notes:  White had another nice start, despite getting hit around a little.

  1. SP Trey Yesavage (Blue Jays)

2024 College:  93 1/3 IP | 145 Ks, 32 BBs | 2.03 ERA, 0.87 WHIP

2025 A/A+/AA:  80 2/3 IP | 32.8 K-BB%, 21 SwStr%, 37.1 CSW% | 3.01 ERA, 0.93 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 9 Ks, 0 BBs | 3.60 ERA, 0.80 WHIP

Age:  21

ETA: Early 2026

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  Righty Clayton Kershaw light

Prime Skills:  Big righty with a super over-the-top trebuchet like delivery that throws a solid fastball, slider, cutter and changeup combo.  The fastball is up from 93-95 in college to averaging 97.9 this season, while the cutter generated a 27% SwStr% in A ball, while the changeup generated a 30.6% SwStr%.  Low A dudes had trouble on his stuff with only a 1.4% barrel rate against.

Player Notes: Yesavage has had a killer season starting from low A to AA and there’s a chance he hits AAA before the end of the year as he should get the call early next year.

  1. SP Jonah Tong (Mets)

2024 A/A+/AA:  113 IP | 24.1 K-BB%, 14.9 SwStr%, 31.1 CSW | 3.03 ERA, 1.17 WHIP

2025 AA:  97 IP | 28.9 K-BB%, 16.5 SwStr%, 34 CSW | 1.58 ERA, 0.94 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 2 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Age: 21

ETA: Mid 2026

fScore:  103 fStuff, 88 fControl, 118 fERA

Comp:  Jared Jones light

Prime Skills: Tong has some tricky IVB on a sinking mid 90s fastball (hitting 95-96 MPH now), a big curve that drops right in on hitters from a high over the top arm slot from a smaller 6’ 1”, 180 pound frame.  He also pairs these with a decent back pocket change up and a hard vertical slider to bridge between the fastball and curve.  The command was on early in the year, but it seems to come and go with Tong.

Player Notes: Tong has been fantastic and I’m somewhat surprised he’s still in AA, but maybe the Mets have learned their lesson as their guys all struggle (outside of McLean at AAA), so maybe he only has a couple starts next year at the highest minor league level prior to promotion to the big leagues.

SP Brycen Mautz (Cardinals)

2025 Season:  84 1/3 IP | 21.1 K-BB%, 12.2 SwStr%, 29.2 CSW% | 2.9 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 10 Ks, 2 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP

Notes:  Mautz is a command and deception type guy who has really had an under the radar breakout season in 2025.

SP Mitch Bratt (Diamondbacks)

2025 Season:  95 1/3 IP | 24.7 K-BB%, 13.7 SwStr%, 31.4 CSW% | 3.21 ERA, 1.20 WHIP

This Week:  4 2/3 IP | 8 Ks, 1 BBs | 3.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP

Notes:  Bratt had a solid start in his first start with the Diamondbacks organization, as a consistent top performer all year.

SP Griff McGarry (Phillies)

2025 Season:  50 1/3 IP | 18.2 K-BB%, 15.1 SwStr%, 32.7 CSW% | 4.29 ERA, 1.27 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 11 Ks, 0 BBs | 3.60 ERA, 0.40 WHIP

Notes:  McGarry is a bit older for the level and his biggest issue is command, but he had a fantastic start this week and has made this list a couple times now this year.

SP Trey Gibson (Orioles)

2025 Season:  91 IP | 27.5 K-BB%, 14.5 SwStr%, 32.7 CSW% | 3.07 ERA, 1.02 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 9 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.83 WHIP

Notes:  Gibson has been fantastic all season and has been one of the most consistent performers all year.  He was a T-10 guy two weeks ago and is back again.

A+ Hitters:

  1. OF Konnor Griffin (Pirates)

2024 CPX:  N/A

2025 A/A+: .333/.412/.536 | 9 BB%, 21.2 K% | 40 XBH, 16 HR, 52 SB

This Week:  10/26 (5 BBs) | 4 XBH, 3 HR, 4 SB

Age: 19

ETA: 2028

fScores: N/A

Comp:  Light Fernando Tatis Jr. with an Elly de la Cruz statistical profile

Prime Skills:  Griffin is a big righty with a good arm as a high school pitcher and he has some massive power upside.  The high stance and high and tight hands in his swing reminds me of Fernando Tatis Jr. and like Tatis, he will probably have plenty of swing and miss to go with the damage. Tools for days here as Griffin has already posted a max EV of 114.2 and has a 90th percentile EV of 108.

Player Notes:  Griffin is the obvious #1 prospect at this point, just an absolute beast who’s hit tool continues to improve.

1B Callan Moss (Pirates):

Season:  .285/.385/.448 | 13 BB% / 22 K% | 38 XBH, 9 HR, 15 SB

This Week:  13/25 | 6 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Great week for Callan Moss in the new organization, though at his age I’m not sure why he’s still in high A except that they think it would be good for Konnor Griffin to have some good hitters around him.

SS Devin Saltiban (Phillies):

Season:  .178/.259/.332 | 6.3 BB% / 29.6 K% | 18 XBH, 7 HR, 12 SB

This Week:  7/24 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  Salti has had a pretty bad go with the stick this year, though he also has a .226 BABIP on the season which demonstrates some terrible luck involved in the low average.

A+ Pitchers:

SP Luis de Leon (Orioles)

2025 Season:  61 2/3 IP | 14.6 K-BB%, 14.7 SwStr%, 29.5 CSW% | 3.79 ERA, 1.25 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 12 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP

Notes:  De Leon has made this list for the second time this season now and hopefully he can continue making starts like this as the Orioles are looking for some pitching help through the organization.

SP Marcus Johnson (Rays)

2025 Season:  115 IP | 20.6 K-BB%, 13.2 SwStr%, 27.1 CSW% | 4.85 ERA, 1.25 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP

Notes: Johnson is another guy making his second appearance on the list this season.  He has 18 Ks and 1 BB over his last two starts, so let’s see if this is the start of something for him.

SP Jose Gonzalez (Rangers)

2025 Season:  86 IP | 20.3 K-BB%, 15.1 SwStr%, 29.2 CSW% | 2.83 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

This Week:  7 IP | 7 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.43 WHIP

Notes: Gonzalez is older for the level, but has excellent command and a high swinging strike rate – he needs to move up levels.

SP Kyle Carr (Yankees)

2025 Season:  101 IP | 11.3 K-BB%, 11.3 SwStr%, 29.2 CSW% | 2.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

This Week:  7 IP | 6 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.29 ERA, 0.71 WHIP

Notes: Carr has made this list twice this season and doesn’t have a lot stuff wise to get excited about, but has been solid throughout the year.

SP Eliazar Dishmey (Marlins)

2025 Season:  78 2/3 IP | 12.6 K-BB%, 11.1 SwStr%, 27.5 CSW% | 2.97 ERA, 1.18 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 8 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP

Notes: Dishmey was promoted to high A after his killer 10 K start last week and followed it up with another great start, his third in a row.  He’s definitely figured something out as he was pretty sub-par prior to the start I saw him live, a few weeks back.

SP Daniel Eagen (Diamondbacks)

2025 Season:  90 2/3 IP | 22.6 K-BB%, 16.1 SwStr%, 32.6 CSW% | 2.68 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP | 10 Ks, 1 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.17 WHIP (0 hits)

Notes: Eagen was pulled from a no-hitter this week due to pitch count, but he’s been dominant all year and should make his next start at AA.

SP Fernando Perez (Blue Jays)

2025 Season:  94 1/3 IP | 16.8 K-BB%, 11.9 SwStr%, 26.6 CSW% | 3.05 ERA, 1.12 WHIP

This Week:  13 IP (2 starts) | 15 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.69 ERA, 0.31 WHIP (4 hits)

Notes: One week, two very good starts for Perez.  They need it after all the pitching depth they traded this deadline (Rojas and Stephan).

A Hitters:

OF Yeremy Cabrera (Rangers):

Season:  .257/.367/.368 | 11.8 BB% / 19.6 K% | 19 XBH, 8 HR, 37 SB

This Week:  9/17 | 5 XBH, 2 HR, 2 SB

Notes:  I was a big Cabrera fan last year and has been solid after a very slow start to the season hitting .290/.384/.433 since May 10th.

3B JP Smith II (Twins):

Season:  .400/.438/.733 | 3.1 BB% / 12.5 K% | 5 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  11/23 | 5 XBH, 2 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Smith was a 17th rounder out of Sacramento State this year and is off to a great start to his minor league career.

OF Dakota Jordan (Giants):

Season:  .309/.376/.496 | 8.9 BB% / 22.9 K% | 35 XBH, 14 HR, 27 SB

This Week:  8/23 | 3 XBH, 3 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Jordan has made this list a few times this year now and I have mentioned a couple times, he needs a promotion as he’s dominating, but is old for the level.

OF Bobby Boser (Athletics):

Season:  .250/.400/.500 | 8.8 BB% / 22.9 K% | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

This Week:  7/21 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Boser, like Smith is a recent draftee as an 11th rounder from Florida.

A Pitchers:

  1. SP Cam Caminiti (Braves)

2024 A:  3 IP | 4 Ks, 0 BBs | 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

2025 CPX/A:  49 IP | 23.7 K-BB%, 14.2 SwStr%, 31.4 SwStr% | 3.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 2 BBs | 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP

Age:  18

ETA: 2028

fScores:  N/A

Comp:  A raw McKenzie Gore with more wiry mechanics

Prime Skills:  Caminiti has an athletic build at 6’ 2”, 195 pounds with a mid-to-upper 90s fastball from the left side, but inconsistent secondaries between a slider, changeup and curveball.

Player Notes:  Caminiti has been building up and continues to look better as the season progresses.

SP David Shields (Royals)

2025 Season:  57 2/3 IP | 25 K-BB%, 11.7 SwStr%, 32.6 CSW% | 2.18 ERA, 0.94 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.20 WHIP (1 hit)

Notes: Shields has elite command and despite a lower swinging strike rate, racks up a fair amount of Ks due to his ability to locate on the edges.

SP Braylon Doughty (Guardians)

2025 Season:  81 1/3 IP | 20.6 K-BB%, 12.8 SwStr%, 30 CSW% | 3.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP

This Week:  4 IP | 7 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP

Notes: Doughty is another guy in need of a promotion, he should be up in high A as a 19-year-old who has put up some excellent low A numbers.  He has great command and his numbers have been slightly inflated due to poor luck.

SP Nate Payne (Marlins)

2025 Season:  45 2/3 IP | 22.5 K-BB%, 20.2 SwStr%, 37.8 CSW% | 2.96 ERA, 1.12 WHIP

This Week:  3 IP | 5 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.00 WHIP

Notes: I caught this performance live and put video of each strikeout on X from behind the dish, I’ve seen both of his low A starts and he’s a stud.  Crazy good fastball, slider combo from the left side with excellent command.

SP Jacob Bresnahan (Giants)

2025 Season:  73 2/3 IP | 21.5 K-BB%, 15.6 SwStr%, 31.4 CSW% | 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

This Week:  5 IP | 8 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.20 WHIP (1 hit)

Notes: Bresnahan is a big lefty for the Giants who has sub-par command, but some great swing and miss stuff on the fastball / change up combo.

DSL Hitters:

OF Ricardo Romero (Guardians):

Season:  .301/.388/.469 | 11.5 BB% / 9.7 K% | 16 XBH, 2 HR, 3 SB

This Week:  6/13 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB

Notes:  Besides being the second Ricky Romero in pro ball, he’s been solid all year in the DSL and with a solid week deserves a little recognition.

SS Elian Pena (Mets):

Season:  .299/.424/.500 | 16.6 BB% / 14.5 K% | 18 XBH, 6 HR, 21 SB

This Week:  9/16 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB

Notes:  Pena has been one of the best players in the DSL this year as the Mets have been stocking the farm the last year or so and creating a rich Brewers scenario.

SS Josuar De Jesus Gonzalez (Giants):

Season:  .284/.398/.438 | 15.9 BB% / 15.4 K% | 16 XBH, 3 HR, 25 SB

This Week:  8/19 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB

Notes:  Arguably the top international signee from the last season, he has been very good this season in the DSL, but has not had one standout – killer week.  He could be the Jesus Made of next year though, so keep an eye out.

DSL Pitchers:

SP Ryjeteri Merite (Reds)

2025 Season:  30 1/3 IP | 20.6 K-BB%, 15.7 SwStr%, 35.8 CSW% | 0.89 ERA, 1.12 WHIP

This Week:  6 IP (2 starts) | 10 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP (3 hits)

Notes:  This kid is from the Netherlands, pronounced (May-reet) and is a fun name to watch in the DSL, it will be interesting to see if he jumps to low A this year.
