The tight end position matters greatly in fantasy football. Tight ends are not as flashy as their route-running counterparts at wide receiver. Most of them do not normally get the same volume of touches as fantasy-relevant running backs. That can sometimes lead to them being overlooked or treated as an afterthought. Do not make that mistake.
The tight end pool is the shallowest of them all in terms of fantasy. Finding production there weekly can be incredibly challenging, especially for those who did not invest in one of the top options during draft season.
One way to find success at the position is by carefully playing the waiver wire week-to-week. The goal of this weekly article is to help fantasy managers do just that by finding low-rostered tight ends in the best situations for that particular week.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Tight End Streamers & Waiver Wire Pickups
The following tight ends are rostered in fewer than 75% of Yahoo! leagues.
Kyle Pitts (TE – ATL) vs. MIA | 67% Rostered
Kyle Pitts’ rostered rate predictably dipped after turning in his weakest output of the season against the Bills in Week 6. The former first-round pick showed off in a solid bounce-back effort this past Sunday night in San Francisco, however, hauling in seven of his 10 targets for 62 yards. The targets were a new season high for Pitts, and the receptions tied his best mark of the campaign from Week 1.

The Dolphins’ defense is nowhere near as stout as that of the 49ers. The Miami unit has allowed nearly seven catches and just below 65 yards per game to the tight end position. Pitts has a great chance for another strong game.
Evan Engram (TE – DEN) vs. DAL | 57% Rostered
Evan Engram was yet again a steady option for quarterback Bo Nix during the Broncos’ wild, come-from-behind victory over the Giants in Week 7. For the second consecutive game, Engram finished with five catches and 42 yards, as he saw a season-high eight targets opposite one of his former employers. The veteran tight end has now recorded at least four receptions in four straight weeks, averaging close to seven looks per game in that span.
The Cowboys’ defense has been one of the easiest to throw on so far this season, and the unit allowed Washington tight end Zach Ertz to find the end zone last time out. Engram has only hit paydirt once to this point, but he could find a few openings for his second score of the campaign this Sunday.
Oronde Gadsden II (TE – LAC) vs. MIN | 4% Rostered
For anyone who had not yet noticed Oronde Gadsden before this past week, they have now. The rookie made some noise against his father’s former team in Miami two weeks ago, grabbing seven passes for 68 yards. He matched that catch total opposite the Colts in Week 7, but he gained nearly 100 more yards and scored his first career touchdown.

Gadsden may not have another stat line quite like that the rest of the season, but he is a must-add player in most leagues now. The former Syracuse standout has proven himself to be another potent weapon for quarterback Justin Herbert, and that should send Gadsden’s rostered rate soaring leading into Thursday’s contest with the Vikings.
