This is a welcome addition for most fantasy managers, as while there are a few who play in enough leagues to always have a team in contention, the vast majority of fantasy managers only play in one or two leagues. The Second Chance Drafts, and more specifically the FantasyPros 2nd Chance League, will provide those who find themselves in the bottom third of their league or who know they won’t be competing with an opportunity to have a fresh start with a new ‘season’.

This helps to provide a solution for a considerable pain point for managers who join leagues with the express purpose of added fun, entertainment, and excitement all season long. The Second Chance Draft provides an avenue to make sure everyone can enjoy fantasy football, all season long, even if they run into misfortune in their traditional season long league.

Draft Prep

Second Chance Drafts are upon us. Now that we are more than a month into the season, fantasy managers have gathered draft-altering information on injuries and player performance. Today, we will take a look at some of the players that have risen from relative afterthought to players to target early at their position (written prior to Week 7).

Rico Dowdle (RB – DAL)
Dowdle has been scintillating since stepping in as the starter for the then-injured Chuba Hubbard. Rico racked up a highly impressive 473 yards from scrimmage in the last two weeks. For context, Saquon Barkley has 462 yards from scrimmage, all season. There may, however, be some value to be had for 2nd Chance Draft rooms, as some fantasy managers are bound to overthink Chuba being set to rejoin the team. Dowdle has, by all accounts, earned an extended look in the lead role, even if the Carolina Panthers recently paid Chuba. Target Dowdle as a top-15 option at the position.

Rashee Rice (WR – KC)
Rashee Rice is finally free from his six-game suspension and is ready to roll for the Kansas City Chiefs. Rice should step right back in as a WR1 for fantasy purposes, but may come at a bit of a discount at Renegade Fantasy. Unless Rice goes off and draws double-digit targets this weekend against Las Vegas, your rival fantasy managers may feel a bit apprehensive about Rashee’s role for the season. Yes, Travis Kelce will be better with Rice on the field, Tyquan Thornton is now a factor, and Xavier Worthy will finally get to do the things they drafted him to do on a full-time basis, but this is the Rashee Rice show. He is the only wideout who will see number one receiver target share for the rest of the season and should thrive immediately. Rice is central to the Chiefs’ desired offensive identity, and should be a top-12 receiver the rest of the way. Target him early in your Renegade Fantasy 2nd Chance Draft.

Caleb Williams (QB – CHI)
Caleb Williams has started to look like a number one overall pick this season and has been a standout for fantasy football purposes. The QB7 in fantasy points per game, Caleb has nine passing touchdowns through five contests. For context, he threw just 20 touchdowns as a rookie last season. He has also added the first two rushing touchdowns of his career (as strange as that sounds to non Bears fans). He will only get more comfortable in Ben Johnson’s offense and should truly start to scratch the surface of his potential as the season progresses. Target Caleb as a top-10 quarterback option for your Renegade Fantasy 2nd Chance Draft.
